Hey hive champs! I hope y'all are having a great weekend doing whatever it is you do on the weekend! I've just returned home after deploying early this morning with Faith to a location where we went to do some long range shooting. I wrote about it ***<a href="https://hive.blog/hive-139358/@galenkp/a-day-in-the-country-with-faith">here</a>*** if you'd like the details. 

We had a great day, a lot of fun, and the highlight? Well, that would have to be the BBQ I cooked on my little portable grill. I made smoky cauliflower burgers for Faith and I had traditional beef and sweet chili ones which we ate on toasted buns with lettuce, onion, tomato, mayo and tomato cause (ketchup). *Tasty!* Add in some cold coke's and amazing country views and it made for a pretty spectacular lunch.

We did some shooting too of course with about 320 rounds getting sent down range over distances from 500m to 1400m (546 yards - 1531 yards) with Faith hitting the 1400m mark for the first time. 

I'm really proud of her considering I made her call the wind speed and direction all by herself; She had to input the data and come up with the field firing solution on her own too. She did really great, although I'll be honest, we had spent the morning working on those skills, developing them; Everyone has to learn sometime right? The afternoon was all about applying what she'd been working on in the morning. She's a great shooter and did really well.

She was really pleased with her achievement as 1000m was her previously achieved range. She ended up shooting 40 rounds at 1400m with a hit percentage of 74%...That's pretty good considering she's not a regular shooter, 30 hits on target out of 40; The target she was shooting at was 60 centimetres (24 inches) in diameter. I was spotting for her and the ones she missed were due to the wind picking up or dropping off without her noticing and adjusting, and a couple were due to her *pulling* the trigger.

Shooting at this range isn't the easiest thing to do, so many factors come into play, but over time I've been training Faith and today she really brought it all together.

I was pleased with how she shot and the progress we made today. It's truly amazing to see the difference in confidence from the morning to the end of the day and even on the way home she was talking about it, the concepts and skills she'd built on. She's a very competent long range shooter and her skills are building well.

We returned home about an hour ago and the shit part of going shooting has to happen now, that's the *cleaning of the guns* thing. I was going to put it off but that's not my way and I'll be out there in my workshop doing that right after I write this post. I have to make another 300 or so rounds to replace those we shot today too, that's a couple weeks work too. Oh well, no pain no gain right?

Faith and I had a great day today, no phone service out there, no people of course, lovely weather and some tasty food...It doesn't get much better than that!
