**The Ukrainian city of Mariupol, named after Our Lady (Mother of God), has been under heavy blockade for more than a month. The Russian military wants to take the city by starvation, where people are without water, food, light, medicine, without any means of subsistence and survival. Without our joint help, this city is doomed. Because the Russians and Putin are publicly crucifying Mariupol on Holy Week (according to the Eastern Christian rite), in front of the eyes of all world.**

Українське місто Маріуполь, назване на честь Богоматері Марії, вже більше місяця перебуває у жорсткій блокаді. Російські військові хочуть взяти місто мором, бо там люди перебувають без води, їжі, світла, ліків, без будь-яких засобів для існування і виживання. Без нашої спільної допомоги це місто приречене на смерть. Бо росіяни і Путін з насолодою привселюдно розпинають Маріуполь у Страсний Тиждень (за східним християнським обрядом), на очах всього світу.

**Almost a thousand civilians, women, children and the elderly, are now on the territory of the Azovstal plant in Mariupol together with the Ukrainian military. This plant is the last refuge of civilians, the citadel of the city, where Ukrainian defenders repel the Russian occupiers. This is an unprecedented example of heroism, courage, strength of spirit.**

Майже тисяча цивільних, а це жінки, діти і літні люди, зараз перебувають разом з українськими військовими на території маріупольського заводу "Азовсталь". Цей завод — останній прихисток цивільних, цитадель міста, де українські захисники чинять фантастичний опір російським окупантам. Це безрецидентний зразок героїзму, мужності, сили духу.

**For several weeks we have been calling on the world to unblock Mariupol. Russia has already dropped all banned bombs on the city, including the heaviest and most powerful, which it did not even use to destroy Syrian Aleppo. We appeal to the UN to help resolve the humanitarian catastrophe. But the UN has become a nominal organization, in which still, you can only imagine this level of cynicism, Russia still works! The UN is silent, as if the issue of violation of all conventions, crimes against humanity is not within the competence of this impotent organization. I am sure that the UN will inevitably collapse, like the League of Nations.**

Ми кілька тижнів закликаємо світ про деблокаду Маріуполя. На це місто Росія скинула вже всі заборонені види бомб, в тому числі самі важкі й найпотужні, які навіть не використовувала у руйнуванні сирійського Алеппо. Ми звертаємося до ООН допомогти вирішити гуманітарну катастрофу. Але ООН перетворилося в номінальну організацію, в якій ще досі, ви тільки уявіть собі цей рівень цинізму,  досі працює Росія! ООН мовчить, начебто питання порушення всіх конвенцій, злочинів проти людяності не в компетенції цієї імпотентної організації. Я певна, що ООН неминуче чекає розвал, як свого часу Лігу Націй.

**The Red Cross, which is supposed to help Ukraine create a humanitarian corridor from Mariupol and save civilians, is instead helping Russia smuggle Ukrainians out of its territory. My acquaintances from the Ukrainian diaspora in the United States and Canada are still trying to find out what needs the Red Cross has spent   financial donations to help Ukrainians .**

Червоний Хрест, який мав би допомогти Україні створити гуманітарний коридор з Маріуполя і врятувати цивільне населення, замість цього допомагає Росії на її території незаконно вивозити українців. Мої знайомі з української діаспори у США і Канаді досі намагаються з'ясувати, на що Червоний Хрест витратив їхні фінансові пожертви, які були направлені на допомогу українцям.

**Every day Mariupol begins to remind me of the image of Pieta, a grieving mother holding the body of her crucified Son. Because the Russians are killing this city, they want people who are still alive to starve to death. It is nothing but deliberate genocide, a terrible, cynical murder. Will the world continue to look at all this with its eyes closed ?! What values does the world that celebrated Easter last week profess? Have our values not become the prices that now determine the standard of living, where well-being and comfort have become paramount?**

Із кожним днем Маріуполь починає нагадувати мені образ П'єти, скорботної матері, яка тримає тіло свого розп'ятого Сина. Бо росіяни мордують це місто, вони хочуть щоб люди, які ще досі живі, померли там від голоду.  Це ніщо інше як цілеспрямований геноцид, страшне, цинічне убивство. Невже світ дивитиметься на все це й далі із заплющеними очима?! Які цінності тоді сповідує світ, який минулого тижня святкував Великдень? Чи не перетворилися наші цінності на ціни, які тепер визначають рівень життя, де головними стали добробут і комфорт?

**Mariupol is becoming an image of Sorrow and Pain for all concerned around the world. This long-suffering Ukrainian city, crippled by the Russian military, is becoming a metaphor for the lifeless body of the Son of God, held on his lap by Our Lady Maria.**

Маріуполь стає для всіх небайдужих у всьому світі образом Скорботи і Болю. Це багатостраждальне українське місто, скалічене російськими військовими, перетворюється на метафору бездиханного тіла Сина-Бога, якого тримає на своїх колінах Богоматір Марія.

**If the world does not act together with Ukraine, with tacit consent indulges in the crimes in Mariupol and simply watches innocent victims die, it will become part of this evil. Let's be merciful!**

Якщо світ не буде діяти разом із Україною, за мовчазної згоди потуратиме злочинам у Маріуполі і просто дивитиметься, як вмирають невинні жертви, — він ставатиме частиною цього зла. Будьмо милосердними!
