I started being active on Inleo again about a few weeks ago after being absent for a while. I picked up a few LEO tokens back then at around a dollar per token. Thereafter, the price of the token dipped massively during the bears. Like several other layer 2 projects on Hive, I thought the project was dead and buried. You all will agree with me that only a handful of L2 projects on Hive remained active and building during the Bears. I'm certain some will try to come back again when the alt season eventually kicks off. But that's not the discussion for today. I came back to see that the LEO project has been rebranded and keeps waxing stronger and stronger by the day. They are even trying to do things differently in terms of onboarding and user retention on Hive - and they are getting results to an extent based on my assessment so far. One of the things they are doing differently is to incentivize onboarding based on a juicy referral program. I only became fully aware of this referral program a few days ago. As an active X user with a decent reach, I decided to dive head-on into the juice. Within 24 hours of making my first post with my referral link attached, I got 11 referrals. It was like magic but I wasn't surprised. I talk about crypto on my page once in a while and some of my followers have been disturbing me about how they can get into Web 3.0. This was my first time recommending a Web 3.0 platform on my page. As of today, below is the number of users I've onboarded and the amount of LEO tokens I've accumulated as a result. Within 4 days, I've made an equivalent of over $27 in LEO tokens. Ordinarily, I should be happy, right? But not entirely. Below is some of the list of the users I've referred and the number of posts they have made. Did you notice any pattern? These new users are hardly posting. Many of these users I know them as very active users on X. Hardly would a day go without them posting on a platform where they are getting zero in return. Why won't they be posting on Inleo where they have a chance of getting incentives for their engagements? If not all my actions to get the referrers can be audited and traced to be genuine, I could easily be accused of trying to manipulate the referral system for financial gains. Initially, I thought perhaps many of the users are unable to post due to resource credit issues. But I was made to understand that new accounts on Inleo get some amount of RC delegated to them by default. So, RC issues is ruled out. For Inleo to succeed, user retention is a must. So, I have decided to uncover the possible reasons behind the inactivity of new accounts. Although my investigation is still ongoing, below is what I've uncovered so far with a suggestion of what can be done to improve the experience of new users. 1. **Users signing up but not setting up their profiles immediately**: The truth is, everyone is super busy nowadays, especially once they are on the web. There are tons of things to be done, from checking emails, attending chats, and doing online research, to posting on social media. Thus, I assume many just follow the prompt for the initial signing up and forget the tab thereafter. If users can set up their profiles, the chances of them posting and becoming integrated into the platform become higher. While I will be actively working to ensure that my referrers eventually set up their profiles and start posting, my suggestion would be that newly signed-up users should get a page to set up their profiles before getting full access to the platform. 2. **The problem of what to post**: It's as if many people think since Web 3.0 platforms are usually tied to crypto projects, their social media should be only about crypto. I was surprised to see one of my followers (see the screenshot above) complaining about not knowing what to post because he doesn't have the knowledge of crypto. As you can see that I've orientated him accordingly, I will follow up with him to ensure that he becomes active on Inleo. One of the new users also complained of not being able to relogin after creating account because he doesn't have a posting key. I had to educate him that since he signed up via X, he should be doing all his login via X accordingly and not through Hive. In summary, new users need serious following up to ensure that they become retained on Inleo. With the juicy referral program, we are sure to get the users, but we will need to follow up with them for retention. Although some may argue that following up and ensuring retention has been incentivized in the referral package. Yes, I know, but beyond the financial incentive, the need for LEO to succeed should be a major driver.
