Greetings community of cat lovers. I'm happy to write here again, mainly I want to thank my dear @nikv and @dragonslayer109 because they are the people who have always supported me on this platform and have done so for several years.

I also thank @dragonslayer109 because once he donated me some of his own money so I could neuter my cats, I never expected that from anyone and that's why I know he is a great cat lover or at least he is a person with a big heart.

Already my Copito is going to be 9 years old with me, he was born just when my younger brother died. Copito's mother cat was not my cat, she was a stray cat who fell in love with me and adopted me. She came every day to visit me and when she got pregnant, she came to eat in the afternoons from what I had for her, I never knew which neighbor owned her.

When I returned from saying goodbye to my brother in the holy field in the city where he died, she was no longer there and didn’t come back, but after two days she came and she no longer had a big belly and at the same time she left and brought me one by one her children.

She would later die in the street and left her children to me. Of the 5 children only Copito stayed with me. It was the first time I had a cat in my care and he grew up like his mother, free, only that every time his fights were worse. He would disappear from home for 3 days and then he would come back with many injuries, then the next month he would repeat the same story.

I remember that one time he meowed a lot inside the house and he would jump from one side to the other. He started to spend many hours indoors and I noticed that his abdomen was swollen and he was licking his genitals. I knew then that he had urine accumulation in his bladder and was behaving as if he had a stone in his urinary ducts.

I consulted and read everything I could and learned then that he had a blockage in his penis with a stone. I have been through terrible financial situations and didn't have the money to take him to the vet so my son and I took care of him. I had to massage his genitals to destroy the stone that was coming down and gave him antibiotics and so he began to urinate little by little and finally the stone came out and he urinated peacefully until he got better.

Recently he was missing for more than 5 days and my son and I were praying for him. My heart knew something happened to him because he never spent more than 5 days away from home.

One morning when I was in my office the cleaning lady called me and said a cat was injured in my yard and I went to check it out. My son was already holding him and when I got closer, I saw him. It was Copito who could barely meow and could not stand up.

My God! I held him and gave him some milk which he drank very quickly. He was weighing very little, as if he had not eaten or drunk before. I put him in the house and we put clean sheets on him to rest. The poor creature couldn’t stand up and could only meow very quietly.

The first day he drank water and milk and then he didn't want any more. He spent a whole day refusing food and I decided to give him liquefied chicken and fish soup and give it to him in his mouth with a syringe.

He arrived with his face cut from his mouth to near his right eye, all swollen. His leg was translocated, the bones could be felt. I gave him antibiotics because I realized that his jaw was fluctuating, he was having an abscess and we had to drain it, clean it, give him antibiotics and his food and fluids.

My son and I took care of him, I was his nurse and family doctor. He didn’t have the strength to resist taking the antibiotic and food with a syringe so he decided to slowly hide away when he could move. We had to get him out from under my son's bed where he enjoyed hiding.

Within a week, his abscess was healed, he was eating on his own and was already putting his leg on the floor. For a month he was indoors healing skin and mind wounds. It was very hard for him. I cried a lot, my heart was pounding when I saw him lying there very sick, but with the bad or good luck that we are in a pandemic, that the vet charges too much for me, to cure him, medicate him and hospitalize him was something that I can't pay him but I can do it myself.

The closest vet has cancelled my neuter appointment 3 times. It’s the closest and cheapest. To take him to another place would cost me close to $150 and here with this vet it only cost me $50.

So, I got another appointment with the vet and my 2 cats had an appointment for the next day. Meme got lost from the house since 4pm while Copito always stays late inside the house and we left him there, when he wanted to go out, we didn't let him.

Meme arrived at 8am just when Copito was on his way to his appointment. He was finally neutered, the vet said he behaved very well. He told him to give him antibiotics, daily dressings and painkillers for 2 days. He was the biggest and heaviest cat of all, he weighed 4,600 grams.

The next day Copito took his pain reliever and salivated so much trying to spit it out… and then when the antibiotic came, he didn't want it either. When I opened the door of the house he ran out to the garden, he didn't want to be held anymore.

I couldn't give him any bandages or antibiotics, let alone painkillers. I only hope that now he wants to stay indoors and not go out again. This week he slept inside the house without resistance and it has already been a week since his castration.

It has been very hard for him and it has cost my son and me tears. I have never had a cat before and now I have 2 cats.

The vet will give me another appointment for Meme who is already starting the same life as Copito and I will not bear to go through the same thing again. The next time he gets his appointment I will keep him indoors since lunch time to make sure he doesn't run away.

This, my dear reader friends, is a short summary of my cat Copito’s life, he chose me to live at home and he has had to go through many difficulties along with my son and me. Thank God everything is starting to get better. I am already working again in my practice, my son is working online, he is finishing his thesis as a computer engineer and the burdens are becoming less heavy with two of us contributing to the household economy.

My dear cat friends, until the next cat adventure of my beloved kitties.
