Hello friends of the @Holos-Lotus Community, I was reading @emiliorios's proposal on [The Longevity Revolution](https://peakd.com/hive-131951/@emiliorios/acceptance-and-loneliness-the-longevity-revolution-iii-is-the-seventh-day-initiative-esen) and as a reflection, I share with you: "Things don't work that way." Little is said about the elderly, almost with fear of involving them. Not only because the State considers an older adult useless, but also because there are no spaces for enjoyment and dialogue. You might think so, at least in Cuba there are several programs for older adults. But the fact that these spaces exist doesn't mean that they solve them, at least not in the form of awareness and education. Let me explain: For example, it's very rare for someone to boast about being in their senior years, which, like any stage, is a transition and a rediscovery that most people don't have the necessary tools to "face." It all starts when you approach 40 or 50, maybe earlier. You look in the mirror and want to hide the gray hair, the wrinkles, and the flaws. The aches and pains from the work force begin, but so does the desire to get closer to retirement, to get some good, well-deserved rest, so we say. [Photography by Adonis Acosta](https://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=100080156241521) The first few days at home are pleasant. You have all the time in the world to attend to those things you couldn't before, due to work and the rush. Then you feel you need to create a new routine. Being at home doing "nothing" isn't good; you don't feel useful. Remember I was talking about the spaces created by the State? Now you also have to adapt to new technologies. If you have the opportunity to have a cell phone, you should learn how to use it properly. If you don't have one, not only will communication be difficult, because the world will gradually demand it. In addition, many activities are also done on cell phones, to "solve" the cash problem and avoid long, long lines. You're eager to talk. Where to go out? Sit alone in a park? What will they think when they see me like this? Before, at least the ice cream shop was open, or certain community activities were held, but now? Now, no one has time. Everyone is racing against the clock, dealing with a million problems: transportation, thefts, power outages, overpricing... and it's true, you know these problems exist, but you can't help them. You just watch and wait in silence. You feel a new pain, like your skin sagging from lack of food. You need to eat dairy, eggs, at least one sweet treat. You think about going back to work, being able to talk with your old coworkers, those who haven't retired yet. You think about doing it because money is necessary and life is difficult, although behind those thoughts, you want to feel active, to keep your strength up. Above all, talk. You want to say so many things. How to face this new stage, feel that you have a place, that someone also listens and understands you, at least a gesture of affirmation. Young people run around with their problems or are on their cell phones; they don't have the patience to explain, to sit down. The world wasn't what it used to be. You go back to the past, to the happy times when people used to gather around the table, when everyone sat around the table instead of in front of the television, those pleasant conversations, those jokes. Now they only talk about the internet, about things they see on social media. No one wants to hear a story, an anecdote. They get tired of you repeating yourself. You want to give your opinion on a topic, and everyone tells you you're wrong; things don't work that way anymore—they repeat it back to you. You repeat it too—things don't work that way anymore. <p><center>This post is accompanied by the photographic work of Adonis Acosta, who uses street photography to capture the reality of Cuba.
