Well let's not get ahead of ourselves.  It's not like they mislabeled plutonium as motor oil or anything as disastrous as that could be.  This was the freezer section at a local butcher that people only spend a few minutes at a time shopping in because it is extremely cold in there.  Forget about how "refreshing" it will be because you are in a tropical country, it is fucking cold in there and it is uncomfortable.   I was in there to get onions tomatoes and bacon but i noticed some packages of really inexpensive mozzarella cheese near the door and since I love cheese, I figured, why not?   

Well thankfully my dinner plans which were burgers didn't actually require this cheese although I think mozzarella would actually be just fine on a burger.  The problem was that this cheese wasn't actually cheese at all and had it not been frozen when i got it, I think I would have realized that right away.

A few hours after I ate I got a bit peckish and I don't like going to sleep with a stomach that is talking to me so I decided to have some cheese and crackers just before bed.  I didn't cut very far into this "cheese" as you can see above, before I figured out that this is not cheese at all.  

It was butter!  

Now I like butter as much as the next guy but I think that if I had cut out a bunch of squares of it to enjoy on my crackers it would have been disgusting.   It's not that butter tastes bad, I love butter, but the big surprise of the contrast of flavors would have been shocking.   

Thankfully I have a little monster that lives in my house with me that loves butter and cheese... and just about anything else provided it isn't a fruit or most vegetables.   Nadi was more than happy to permanently dispose of the mistake cheesebutter in her belly.

It wasn't long after she was done licking her lips that she was back at my feet wondering if she was gonna get more of that delicious yellow stuff but alas, I had already sealed it back up and put it back in the fridge.  

I'm not one to complain very loudly when a mistake is made at a butcher or anywhere else for that matter... I certainly wouldn't raise the alarms over 44,000 VND which is a bit under $2.   I did contact the owner of the butcher and inform him of the mistake and he went into the freezer and discovered that HUNDREDS of packs of butter were labeled as mozzarella.   So in a way I did a service for the butcher as well and some staff member is probably getting chewed out right now because while I don't know how many of these they have already sold, but cheese is a LOT more expensive than butter is here - so they were losing money as well as potentially pissing off their customers.  

All's well that ends well, even though I was forced to eat my night time crackers plain!
