The Stick of Truth (game): hilarious and actully really good
I suppose to a certain degree you would need to be a fan of Southpark to truly appreciate this game but I have met a lot of people in my time on this planet and I don't know very many people who don't like Southpark.

This game in an atypical RPG. You have all the usual mechanics like leveling up, discovering new characters and acquisition of new and more powerful weapons and armor. The game is a bit different in the way that it is non-linear.... kinda. There are certain areas that you need a certain item to obtain access to but there are optional areas as well that you don't really even need to go to that area in order to complete the game.

The character selection is pretty funny and completely non-PC right from the start. You have a choice of choosing 4 classes: Fighter, Thief, Mage, and Jew. I don't know anyone that didn't choose "Jew."

Before anyone starts thinking there is anything anti-Semitic about this, you need to understand that poking fun at Jews is a massive part of Cartman's persona in the show.

The rest of the game is just like the show: Brash, crude, and filled with things that you probably would be uncomfortable discussing with your parents. The whimsical characters that you encounter are just amazing such as when Randy is kidnapped and probed my aliens.

I think one of my favorite characters was probably Princess Kenny but that might be because those were some of my favorite episodes in the show and the animation for the Princess Kenny segments bring about an element of anime that the rest of the game does not possess (this is a homage to the Princess Kenny episodes.)

The turn-based combat is surprisingly good as it involves an element of real-time interaction that can completely change the outcome based on if you hit the correct button at the correct time.

They also poke fun at just about everyone and even took some time out to go after one of their favorite targets for criticism, Canada.

I found this particularly amusing because the Canada portions of the game have intentionally bad graphics and really long load times between segments. The battles are also extremely easy compared to the rest of the game. Basically for that small part of the game the graphics and gameplay went back in time 20 years.I don't know what Canada ever did to Trey Parker and Matt Stone, but they have been feeling their wrath for 30 years or so.

This trailer doesn't really show much of the gameplay but i am sure you can find that out easily enough on your own. This game was MUCH better than I expected it to be because SouthPark has (like most screen-to-game adaptations) failed miserably in titles they made in the past. This game was the best-selling game on Steam for a couple of weeks after launch and remains a great game that I return to on a regular basis. They have already made a sequel, but I have not played it yet. Perhaps today!

Because this game was so universally well-received and extremely well-done, it is still relatively expensive at around $25. This might scare off a few people but if you have a Steam account you can set up a notice to let you know when it goes on special. It does precisely that on a regular basis.
