##  Dead Kennedys   - *Buzzbomb*

## Since I shared a tune
from **FEAR** the other day, I figured we'd stick with California punk bands today!  **Dead Kennedys** were formed in 1978 in San Francisco, CA by guitarist "East Bay" Ray after he posted classifieds in the newspaper.  They've had a few line-up changes over the years, though their "classic" line up consisted of singer Jello Biafra, East Bay Ray, Darren Henley, and Klaus Flouride.  They had a really interesting surfy element that they incorporated into their high-speed, high energy rock and roll, and when paired with Biafra's political/conspiracy laden lyrics, created a sound that has become entirely their own.

## This song is from the band's
1982 album, ***Plastic Surgery Disasters***.  While their first album is known for the iconic songs *Holiday in Cambodia* and *California Uber Alles*, I think this record is a more solid release from start to finish.  The guitar work is much more interesting, with some of Ray's most interesting and original writing.  This song in particular has a super dark, creepy sort of vibe, which works great with Biafra's lyrics about a drunk old woman barreling through the streets of Pasadena in her car.  The production on this album (and song) is also a lot better than the first album, with everything being more clear and audible (less lo-fi).
