## Wings - *Bip Bop*


## **Wings** was formed
in 1971 by Paul McCartney and his wife Linda after his departure from **The Beatles**.  Initially, critics didn't consider the band to live up to his earlier music, however over the following decade, the band's popularity grew, along with their cohesiveness and level of songwriting ability.  They've had a number of hit songs, and were selected to write the theme song for the Bond film ***Live and Let Die***.

## This song is from their
debut album, released at the end of 1971.  I think people were expecting an incredibly intricate, experimental sort of sound, expanding on what the **Beatles** had achieved on ***Abbey Road***, but McCartney went in a very different direction.  He embraced "traditional" rock and roll and the blues quite a bit, opting for simplicity which is probably where the public disappointment came from.  However, after many decades, I have to say there are some amazing songs on this album, this one in particular.  There are almost no lyrics, rather a sort of "scat" that Paul does over a really cool rock/blues influenced guitar base.
