## Blur is a band that I'm sure many people

I had sort of missed out on them (and a lot of the Britpop) at the time, but have since gone back and rediscovered many of these groups. My intro to Blur was through the Gorillaz, and making the connection that Damon Albarn was a part of both. Blur was formed in 1988 in London, England and consisted of Albarn, Alex James, Graham Coxon, and Dave Rowntree. The first album was quite different, but by the second and subsequent releases, the guitar driven, 'Britpop' sound would develop. They would have a second, more indie shift in the late '90s, which is when their 'Song 2' began to garner the band much more attention in the US. After this, like many British bands, they began experimenting with more electronic and hip-hop influences. Though they had a temporary split in 2004, Albarn would continue in that Direction with the Gorillaz. The band reunited in 2008, and would release a new album in 2015. Today's song is from that release, The Magic Whip, and was the album that sort of reignited my interest in the group. It definitely feels like a more modern album, with the band continuing to experiment with different sounds and styles, and not just resting on their laurels. This song is harmonically pretty simple, but the instrumentation is really cool and has always been a favorite of mine.
