# <center><b>Radiohead</b>    - <i>Faust Arp</i></center>


## For a long time, <b>Radiohead</b> were a band

I didn't dislike what I heard, but I sort of just missed them until a decade or so ago, when I decided to go through their discography, and found myself completely blown away, and an instant fan.  The band was first formed in 1985 in Oxfordshire, England by Thom Yorke (vocals, guitar, piano, keyboards), brothers Jonny Greenwood (lead guitar, keyboards, other instruments) and Colin Greenwood (bass), Ed O'Brien (guitar, backing vocals) and Philip Selway (drums, percussion) (<a href="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Radiohead#Band_members">Source: Wikipedia - Radiohead</a>), all of whom have remained in the group ever since.  Their very early music was sort of '80s college-rock/alt. rock, and they released two albums that were mostly in that style, with a sort of large, stadium rock vibe added on top.  By their 3rd album, however, they began to experiment with new songwriting styles and methods, and production in studio, eventually resulting in the groundbreaking <i>OK Computer</i>.  As they wrote and released more material, they broke more new ground, delving into the worlds of electronic, world, and even at times classical music.  In 2007, they self-released their double album <i>In Rainbows</i>, posting it online and allowing people to pay what they wanted, which was revolutionary at the time (it's become quite common with stuff like Bandcamp in the years since). Today's song comes from that album, and is a favorite of mine.  I love the guitar writing here, there are these great moments were they move from a major to a minor tonic, just by changing the quality of the chord.  It's such a simple thing, yet it instantly gives the song a super unique quality.</div>
