Fortunately, at some point, I discovered their albums in their entirety, and realized what I'd been missing out on. The band was formed in 1976 in London, England and for most of its existence consisted of Joe Strummer, Topper Headon, Mick Jones, and Paul Simonon, though there are some other members at the very beginning, at random points throughout, and towards the end of the band's life. While they were definitely a punk band at the start, they were always interested in a wider array of genres and styles, which they began incorporating on the second album, and even more so on their third release, 1979's London Calling, which is where today's tune is from. This is a widely eclectic album, with sounds ranging from reggae to rockabilly, folk to new-wave, and everything in between. This song has a sort of post-punk vibe, with the clean guitars and interesting patterns, but it's also just a super solid, catchy singalong, and a personal favorite.
