<p>tAngerinecAt are an art-pop / post punk duo based in the UK. Eugene Purpurovsky and Paul Chilton, the two protagonists involved first got together in 2003, followed by touring Ukraine, the UK, and Russia. In 2014, they took the name tAngerinecAt.</p>
<p>They have an fascinating sound, incorporating haunting vocals, hurdy-gurdy, whistles, Carpathian bagpipe, harmonica, and avant-garde layers of electronic music.</p>
<p>“Something Broke Inside” is their latest single. It narrates waking from a nightmare, coughing blood laced with shards of broken glass. In their words "the psychological aftermath of contaminated intimate relationships, angst, and isolation". </p>

<blockquote class="wp-block-quote has-text-align-center"><p>Founder of tAngerinecAt, non-binary Eugene Purpurovsky (he/they) plays hurdy-gurdy, Ukrainian bandura, writes lyrics and handles production. Originally from Ukraine, Eugene is a trauma survivor who battles with Complex Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder. He was abused in childhood by family members, some of whom were in the KGB. He grew up absent adequate food and warm clothing, essentially working as a slave for his parents and raising his two younger sisters. Subjected to gruelling physical labor and exposed to radiation from the Chernobyl disaster, his health deteriorated.</p>

<p>tAngerinecAt have been very active over the last few years. They've released four albums, toured extensively, received airplay on BBC 2, BBC 3 and BBC 6, and performed at myriad festivals, including Knockengorroch Festival, Eden Festival, Equinox Festival, Willowman Festival, Leigh Folk Festival, Festival8, Festival x-24, Fire In the Mountain, Llangollen Fringe Festival, Blue Lagoon Festival, Tanner Fest, Radnor Fringe Festival, Alice's Wicked Tea Party, Wrex Fest, Hidden Hill Festival, JudeAnt Festival, Krayina Mriy, and Trypilske Kolo, to name a few!.</p>
