Above is a map of the US State of North Carolina.  There are protests happening in Charlotte now, feel free to visit any major news site for details.  Republican [Robert Pittenger](https://twitter.com/BBCNewsnight/status/779074944881741824), a congressman from North Carolina's 9th district, had this to say:

The 9th district contains the suburbs that surround Charlotte, but not the city itself.  Urban Charlotte is contained in the strangely shaped 12th district, which snakes its way between the 5th and 8th districts so that it can include other major urban population centers in Winston-Salem and Greensboro.   The 12th district is represented by Democrat [Alma Adams](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Alma_Adams):
