Gridcoin continues to grow as a major player on BOINC.

Based on data gathered over the past ten weeks from the "Combined Teams" chart of the Free-DC Distributed Computing Stats System (http://stats.free-dc.org/stats.php?page=boincteams), it looks as though team Gridcoin is poised to overtake the Recent Average Credit (RAC) of team SETI.USA sometime next week, moving into third place.

This chart shows teams with the 2nd through 8th highest RAC on BOINC. Six of these teams seem to have a stable RAC, but one team stands out for its upward trend through the past ten weeks: That one team is Gridcoin.

While Gridcoin has certainly come far, let's zoom out a bit to see all top eight teams. The team with the highest RAC on BOINC remains The Final Front Ear. For Gridcoin to reach that 3 billion RAC mark, it will take more than merely additional computing power to rein in Bitcoin Utopia and the ASICs -- that may need a wholesale culture shift within the cryptocurrency sector towards "Proof of Meaningful Work".

While Gridcoin is already the biggest player on BOINC when Bitcoin Utopia is not included -- as of writing, according to the "Combined Teams (no Bitcoin)" chart (http://stats.free-dc.org/stats.php?page=boincteamsb) its team RAC is greater than the next 23 competitors COMBINED  -- it is great to see this organic growth of Gridcoin make itself evident on the BOINC leaderboards.
