Northern Light over Germany!

<p>I used to be a huge fan of @ecency, and told everyone to use it when starting on Hive. Man, that was nice. Now I am writing another article and I already feel annoyed by the little flaws (features) that have been taken away or added. Depending on your viewpoint. Just try to drag and drop the images now. F in the world. Programmers have this awkward way of "verschlimmbessern" the German word for "sayingyoumakeitbetterbutinfactmakingitmuchworse". Whoever is responsible for making the experience almost unbearable... I already don't like spending time writing articles here anymore and I feel like I'm almost out of here! Anyhow end of Rant. Start the fucking article. It will be short.</p>

<p>Früher war ich ein riesiger Fan von @ecency und habe jedem empfohlen, es zu nutzen, wenn er bei Hive startet. Mann, das waren noch Zeiten. Jetzt schreibe ich wieder einen Artikel und bin schon genervt von den kleinen Macken (Features), die entweder entfernt oder hinzugefügt wurden – je nach Perspektive. Versucht mal, Bilder per Drag-and-Drop einzufügen. F*** the world. Programmierer haben diese seltsame Angewohnheit des „verschlimmbesserns“, dieses deutsche Wort für „du denkst, du machst es besser, aber in Wahrheit machst du es viel schlimmer“. Wer auch immer dafür verantwortlich ist, dass die Nutzung hier fast unerträglich geworden ist... Ich hab jetzt schon keine Lust mehr, hier Artikel zu schreiben, und ich fühle mich, als wäre ich bald raus!</p>

<p>Ok where was I. Oh yes, there was something exciting I was about to write until... ok let us talk about the Pyramid. I did write an article before and you may also see some publications of local friends who visited the place recently. I was thinking about going there again myself and when a friend from South Africa was visiting we had the absolute ÜberLuck when it comes to the Aurora Borealis. Someone wrote tonight there will be some Northern Lights wanna try. I said yes and proposed the pyramid. When we arrived it was very subtle reddish with a little green. We were all already amazed and excited. But then quickly the show got almost unreal. Even the photos from the phones looked like what you are about to see here. I felt like Iceland of Finnland.</p>

<p>Ok, wo war ich? Ach ja, da war etwas Spannendes, über das ich schreiben wollte, bis... ok, reden wir über die Pyramide. Ich habe schon mal einen Artikel darüber geschrieben, und vielleicht habt ihr auch die Beiträge von ein paar lokalen Freunden gesehen, die den Ort kürzlich besucht haben. Ich hatte überlegt, selbst nochmal hinzufahren, und als ein Freund aus Südafrika zu Besuch war, hatten wir absolutes Über-Glück mit der Aurora Borealis. Jemand schrieb: „Heute Nacht gibt’s Polarlichter, wollt ihr’s versuchen?“ Ich sagte Ja und schlug die Pyramide vor.

Als wir ankamen, war der Himmel ganz subtil rötlich mit einem Hauch Grün. Wir waren schon total begeistert. Aber dann wurde die Show fast surreal. Selbst die Handyfotos sahen aus wie das, was ihr hier gleich sehen werdet. Ich fühlte mich wie in Island oder Finnland.</p>

<p>Looking for the right angle, I tried to get the pyramid from almost all angles. At first, the Northern Lights were only visible in one direction. Later it was all over and created different shapes. All this peaked in the dramatic 5-10min with the crazy red. I could not believe my eyes how strong it was. Later we found out that was the peak for the entire night. We got super lucky at this super cool spot.</p>

<p>Auf der Suche nach dem richtigen Winkel habe ich die Pyramide aus fast allen Perspektiven fotografiert. Anfangs waren die Nordlichter nur in eine Richtung sichtbar. Später waren sie überall und formten die unterschiedlichsten Muster. Der Höhepunkt war ein dramatisches 5-10-minütiges Spektakel mit diesem verrückten Rot. Ich konnte kaum glauben, wie intensiv es war. Später erfuhren wir, dass das der Höhepunkt der gesamten Nacht war. Wir hatten mega Glück an diesem absolut genialen Spot.</p>

<p>Originally we also planned to visit two other spots with a more open field. On the way out of the park, we did realize how lucky we had just gotten and nothing else compared to the few minutes with the crazy red above us.</p>

<p>Ursprünglich hatten wir geplant, noch zwei andere Spots mit offeneren Feldern zu besuchen. Doch als wir den Park verließen, wurde uns klar, wie viel Glück wir gerade gehabt hatten – nichts kam an diese wenigen Minuten mit dem verrückten Rot über uns heran</p>

<p>Photographing this phenomenon wasn't exactly a technical challenge. But concentrating on getting a good composition was extra difficult because you feel like a doctor in an emergency room you got to triage your compositions. You know this is not going on for a long time. You want to get your shot on your SD card before it is over.</p>

<p>Das Fotografieren dieses Phänomens war technisch gesehen keine große Herausforderung. Aber sich auf eine gute Komposition zu konzentrieren, war extrem schwierig – man fühlt sich wie ein Arzt in der Notaufnahme, der seine Kompositionen priorisieren muss. Man weiß, dass das nicht lange so bleibt. Der Druck, das perfekte Bild auf die SD-Karte zu bekommen, bevor alles vorbei ist, ist enorm.</p>

<p>Oh, my good look at this direction - even more red! It was so strong I could not believe it. It was not the most exciting side of the pyramid, but hey the show was up there!

<p>Oh mein Gott, schaut euch diese Richtung an – noch mehr Rot! Es war so intensiv, ich konnte es kaum fassen. Zugegeben, es war nicht die spannendste Seite der Pyramide, aber hey, die Show fand da oben statt!

Habt ihr in diesem Sonnenzyklus schon Polarlichter gesehen – egal ob im Norden oder Süden?</p>

<p>Even almost 3 weeks later I feel super happy for what I was privileged to see here in Germany not even traveling to Iceland or Finnland (I still wanna do that though). Thanx to the sun for an amazing night and i hope you also like the images.</p>

<p>Auch fast drei Wochen später bin ich immer noch super happy darüber, was ich hier in Deutschland erleben durfte – ohne dafür nach Island oder Finnland reisen zu müssen (wobei ich das trotzdem irgendwann machen will). Danke an die Sonne für diese unglaubliche Nacht, und ich hoffe, euch gefallen die Bilder genauso wie mir!</p>
