Lands are long awaited in Splinterlands and its more then 2 year team is workings on same. You can imagine the quantum of work required to completed the project (as the team is working form more then 2 years).  Recently the team ha released  updated whitepaper which includes the plans for the Lands Phase 1.5 which is expected to complete by the end of second quarter of 2023. 
The phase 1.5 will allow players to use their lands, cards and DEC before the release of the second phase. Which means players can use the card and DEC on lands which ultimately add another use case for the cards.

## Land 1.5 and Card Utilization

One chapter of whitepaper explained the working/utilization of the cards in Lands. The Production Points are the key aspect for the production rate on lands. More the Production Points more you can utilize the cards and which means more production rate. 

> The amount of time it takes to produce resources, construct buildings, or do nearly anything else within Praetoria will be determined using a system of Production Points (PP). 

The production points per hours generated by the cards will be different based on their rarity. Before coming to the rarity lets talk about the Gold Foil vs Normal foil. As we know Gold Foils are are then Normal Foil and in battles also the Gold Foil gives the additional benefits (more battle rewards) in ranked battle. In similar way the Gold Foil cards will also provide the more Production Points. 

Now coming to the rarity we know Legendary cards are most rare so they provides the highest PP per hour.  

The following table shows the PP per hour generated by cards of each rarity and foil.

In the table its is very clear that  a normal foil Legendary cards gives PP per hour more then 50 times (per BCX). and the Gold Foil Legendary gives the slightly less PP per hour ie 47.5 times (per BCX)

## More Production Point for Old Edition cards
To incentivize the old players or the players holding the old edition cards the additional utility and value to the older, more rare cards has been provided. The older editions card will provide a multiplier to the number in the above table during calculation of PP per hour.

The multiplier for each edition is shown in the table below:

  ## Conclusion
 The game mechanism is such that it provide the more value to the rare cards. Even in the ranked play or tournament their is always more benefits given to the users of older card holders. In one ways it is fair also because the older players trust the game developers form initial days and also provided the support form long time. 10X multiplier for the Alpha edition looks too much but keep in mind that their will be few players holding the max level Alpha Legendary.
