This heat is then used by coal-fired power plants to spin turbines and as a result electricity is produced. Coal based power plant were famous because coal is most abundant form of non-renewable energy. Hydropower is the least expensive form of energy. Coal is not only at the fourth position but it is also has some disadvantages which are so serious that there is a need to stop burning coal for producing power. <center><h2> Disadvantages of Using Coal as a Source of Energy </h2> </center> Excessive carbon dioxide in our air which is produced as a by product when coal is burnt is damaging our health. Crops are also loosing the amount of nutrients in them because of the excessive carbon dioxide in the air.
