Wrapping Presents!
Christmas is coming in a month's time. So let's brush up some gift-wrapping skills perhaps! Hahaha I love wrapping presents when I was young and before I became a mum. After that, I just grab hold of paper bags or ready-made gift boxes etc. Yeap I barely wrap presents anymore.

Recently, I was watching some easy DIY gift wrapping short videos on this Chinese app called "xiao hong shu" where I also learn some of my home workouts. It makes me so eager to try them out and opportunity knocks on my door at the correct timing too. 2 of my friends are graduating from their Master Studies as doctor specialists and another friend is celebrating a birthday.

**No Harm to Try, Right?**
If I fail, I can just find 3 more paper bags to put the gifts in hahaha. Forgive me that my wrapping skill is not that neat and as crafty as many of my artistic friends. Am just a "commoner" trying to enjoy an old hobby hahaha.

Want to show you 2 different ways of wrapping which I find achievable and not too difficult, yet making it different from the typical box wrapping way.

***First Way:***

This requires a ribbon and I personally think broader ribbons will make it look nicer which sadly, I only have my thin ribbons with me. (Could not even find a Baskin Robbin ribbon to recycle with)

First, grab the wrapping paper. Mine has 2 different colours on each side.
![img_0.6328688032827278.jpg](https://images.ecency.com/DQmdvD7GPAGsmzXXTNSLE2J54A9RHmKMyPHW3hoUWxTjyEy/img_0.6328688032827278.jpg)

I chose the colour I want to be on the outside and started wrapping the box like how we wrap a box usually, leaving one end loose and open.

![img_0.38529643602274366.jpg](https://images.ecency.com/DQmY8mZWdaGwMpQrH6esEu8YopLGWAbNwjMtPibrcPPSRxL/img_0.38529643602274366.jpg)

![img_0.7663928502441297.jpg](https://images.ecency.com/DQmQhcTPPqnq8equ6ch1XRdEsffDhLGzKJxa2BPK6z6Zc1i/img_0.7663928502441297.jpg)

![img_0.343041820038119.jpg](https://images.ecency.com/DQmNqxnD85QKus7WcmaCbtawjZce3NohPwQMyU91Zu1bjaY/img_0.343041820038119.jpg)

As you can see, one end is tapped up while the other end was left open. Now we are going to put a ribbon on that end. Fold the loose end from one side to another before putting the ribbon on it. I did not tape it on so I can adjust the length of the ribbon on each side later but you can choose to tape it to secure it if that helps you better.

Fold the edge in with the ribbon in it several times, at least 3 times, all the way until it reaches the box.

Adjust the ribbon length so we can tie a bow later.

**Voila! I am so happy to have achieved this.**

Really wished my ribbon is thicker and broader but this will do for my first time. I wrapped two presents for the ladies this way. The end with the ribbon can even serves as a handle to carry the gift.

***Second Way***

My next present is for a male doctor friend who is graduating the same time as my lady doctor friend. Got both of them the same present as you can see - a tumbler that can keep warm and cold for their drinks.

Since this is for a male friend, I thought maybe I omit the ribbon and try the other tutorial I saw.

First, I grabded my wrapping paper and placed the box in somewhat the center.

![img_0.9446271648549673.jpg](https://images.ecency.com/DQmdrMej7PPA1BmGWM1T6zeddQQEXV2TQuJkp4voEqsdYmy/img_0.9446271648549673.jpg)

You may see many creases on my paper because I was trying my best to hide some of the lines after I wrap it up. To no avail, I failed as the width of my wrapping paper was not wide enough. I still did not manage to conceal all of them. I folded the middle upper part in and fold the sides alternately to create "pockets". You will see what the "pockets" can do later.

First layer done. Now head on to second layer.

![img_0.261142715306685.jpg](https://images.ecency.com/DQmPvbSGqbw99bxaGZnKdiy9wjiFrMYgMSkdfUpWmGseKAN/img_0.261142715306685.jpg)

Fold the edges at the bottom in as neatly as possible like how we usually wrap a box.

![img_0.5081710616533864.jpg](https://images.ecency.com/DQmcEpPRkNQ5RpBjssCYoY4JkF2aaCWKqNFuP3u5joWzUjk/img_0.5081710616533864.jpg)

Then we are done! Let's see what we can do the the pockets - **Slot in a greeting card!** Isn't that useful??? I love this idea!

I can even slot it in at the side if you want to keep the front foldings visible.

**Hope you enjoy my simple DIY for different ways of gift-wrapping! Do you think they are doable or they are too tedious to do?**
