We started chapter fifteen today with Abram expressing his concern about his heir.  He had no children and was ready to leave everything to Eliezer, an acquaintance from Damascus.  

The promise of a child and a nation to come from that child is important.  If that promise had not been kept, we would not have many of the blessings that the nation of Israel brings to the world.
