The defending Premier League champions from Liverpool were favorites to win the title before the season, but after 24 matches it looks more than difficult for Jurgen Klopp's team. Liverpool have lost three Premier League games in a row, and at the time of writing "The Reds" occupy the 4th place in the series, where they are a full 16 points behind the leading team Manchester City, who have even played one game less than Liverpool.

Most recently, Klopp's troops lost 1-3 to Leicester, which means Liverpool could risk falling all the way down to the Premier League's middle table if this performance go on. The disappointing form and associated placement in the table has made Klopp give up his title dreams for this year, and the German manager will rather focus on getting his team back in shape.

Liverpool's season has been marked by serious injuries to several of the team's great players, and especially the defending champions' defensive has been hit hard. Both Virgil van Dijk and Joe Gomez have been out most of the season, and Klopp is therefore without both of his normal first choices in central defense. Therefore, several young players have had the chance on the first team, where also midfielders like Fabinho and Jordan Henderson have substituted in the central defense, which has been a clear weakening of both the defense and the midfield, compared to last season.
