**Steemit Basics:**
At first, all of us find it difficult to understand the new concepts introduced by the Steemit network; by the nature of the page many of these are in English, some terms may be familiar but others require a greater degree of explanation to understand that they are specifically ...
https://blogbasics.com/wp-content/uploads/Get-Started.jpg

[Fuente](https://blogbasics.com/)
The objective of this post is to explain in the best way those terms or aspects related to the Steemit network that may be confusing for new users --- **Terms Related to Money and the Account:** * *Steem:* The Steem is the cryptocurrency on which the Steemit network is based. It is easily transferable, can be exchanged for other cryptocurrencies, SDB or Steem Power (Power Up). Your market price influences the value of the votes that have accumulated the publications, comments, and the value of our account. * *Steem Dollars (SBD):* The SBDs are an asset created with the intention of being worth the same as US $ 1. Like Steem, these can easily be exchanged through transfers. They are the main form of reward for the authors of comments and publications. * *Steem Power (SP):* It represents a kind of reputation or influence of the users on the Steemit network. The greater the amount of Steem Power, the greater the rewards for healing, vote value, and income. * *Power Up:* It is a process that consists of using Steem to add them to Steem Power. * *Power Down:* Contrary to the Power Up, the Power Down takes the sum accumulated in the Steem Power and turns them into Steem, in a process that takes 13 weeks. * *Account Value:* It is the estimated amount of the value in USD, of the total sum of Steem and Steem Power that we have in our account. That is, it reflects the estimated value in USD of all the Steem and Steem Power that we have. --- **Terms Related to Publications:** * *Tags:* These are the categories in which the different kinds of publications are grouped. (As an example: Art, Photography, Literature, Technology…) * *Resteem:* It consists of sharing the publication of another user in our profile. This is an additional way to support and demonstrate the type of content of your choice. The action of doing "resteem" can not be undone. --- **Terms Related to Upvotes:** * *Voting Power:* It represents the total capacity of votes that we can grant. It is reflected in 100% and regenerates 2% every 2 hours. * *Voting Intensity* Sit is about the intensity of the votes, the users with a Steem Power greater than 500, can determine the power of their vote at the moment of granting it, by default the power of the vote can be established in a range of 1 to 100%. * *Curators:* They are the users who perform the votes. * *Curation Reward:* it is the retribution received for having granted votes. These come in the form of Steem Power and the amount of the reward is directly related to the amount of Steem Power held by the user who voted. --- **Terms Related to Security:** * *Public Key:* They are the codes associated to each account that allow identifying the actions that are related to it. It is a public identifier code. * *Private Key:* are those passwords that only the user can access, and that allows you to authorize the actions of your account (publish, comment, vote, make resteem, transfer ...). Among these are the master password and the private publication password. * *Master Key:* is the main password that we obtain when creating our Steemit account, it is unique and can not be recovered. It allows to have total control of the account, and only having this one can be changed to another master password that would affect the other private passwords. * *Private Posting Key:* This is a password that only allows actions related to content authorization; with this it is not possible to make transfers. It is recommended to use them in places other than Steemit.com --- These are the concepts that I believe create confusion, I hope it is useful and if you have any doubt can be expressed in the comments ... Regards Until next time!
