Tokatag Conscript was Everything I Thought

Imagine when you are given limited cards or you don't have enough cards to play in supersneak rule, and the mana is very small. That was my issue in the battle I'm sharing with you today: upon the monsters that were available for selection, I picked **Tokatag Conscript** because of the thorns ability, and it worked perfectly for me.

I knew from the beginning that my opponent would use melee monsters, and the best thing I could do was to use a monster that could damage the units of my opponent melee monsters. The only monsters that could do it perfectly was **Tokatag Conscript**, and I brought it to the battle. I placed it as a last monster so that the thorn could be effective in this battle.

**Rules of the Battle**

**Four's a Crowd**: You can summon a maximum of 4 units.

This rule indicated that players can use monsters above or below four units; that was the reason I used **Halfling Refugee** with mana cap of 1, and also **Tokatag Conscript** with 6 mana caps. Therefore, more than four mana can be used; also, less than four mana can be used.

**Super Sneak**: All melee units have sneak (targets the enemy unit in the last position). This rule means that a melee monster attacks from behind, except a melee monster in the first position. One thing I like most in this rule is that melee monsters attack irrespective of the position. That is the reason you see a battle consisting of two or more monsters with shield ability, yet, the monsters with shield ability will surely attack. If there was no super sneak in this battle, I won't dare to use **Drybone Hobgoblin** because it won't attack in that position; Her best position is the second position.

**Summoner**

**Fithe Bladestone**

_Splinter_: Fire

_Level_: 2 ⭐⭐

_Ability_: All friendly monsters have +2 armor, Bloodline Dominion and Void

_Mana_: 4

I knew **Fithe Bladestone** was the best option for me; I already knew that my opponent would use melee monsters in this battle; and I needed the armor to make it difficult for my opponent. With armor, it won't be easy for melee and ranged monsters to eliminate my monsters at once. You could see that **Tokatag Conscript** took opponent monsters round 2 to eliminate it. If not the armor, **Tokatag Conscript** would have been eliminated in round 1 of this battle. That was my biggest reason I selected **Fithe Bladestone**

When I checked summoners availability during selection, monsters of the monsters had 6 mana caps. I realized that picking a summoner with 6 mana caps was not the best; if I had made that choice, I wouldn’t have used four monsters in my lineup because there would not be mana to select four monsters.

**Monsters Arrangement**

**Halfling Refugee**

_Health_: 6 ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️

\*Armor: 2 🪖🪖

_Attack_: Melee

_Mana_: 1

The best monster to pick is **Halfling Refugee**; even my opponent picked it. That was how important was **Halfling Refuge** in this battle! The only one mana cap monster with 6 health you can find when selecting monsters was **Halfling Refugee**. It was the cheapest monster to get. Without argument, it was my best and first choice because it had the ability to stay longer in this battle. I should have placed it in the last position of this battle but I realized that other melee attacks were also available for selection such as range and magic. I also had a strong belief that my opponent might use a ranged monster in this battle; and we'll all know that 50% of ranged monsters in splinterlands attack a monster in the first position. I also believe that if my opponent would use a ranged monster, he would be the one that attacks in the first position. Fortunately, he used **Mar Toren Trader**, a ranged monster. It attacked my **Halfling Refugee** and damaged two health from it. Assuming it wasn't placed in the last position, it would have posed threat to my **Halfling Refugee**. It was later eliminated by **Tokatag Conscript**. My **Halfling Refugee** was eliminated at the last round of the battle; if not because it was exhausted, it would have eliminated **Tidal Tsunamist** **Halfling Refugee** got exhausted in the last round due to weary ability; hence, he could not attack.

**Ujurak Elder**

_Splinter_: Neutral

_Level_: 3 ⭐⭐⭐

_Ability_: Camouflage and Divine Shield

_Speed_: 1 ⚡

_Health_: 2 ❤️❤️

\*Armor: 2 🪖🪖

_Attack_: Magic

_Mana_: 3

Since it was a super sneak battle, it was necessary for me to prevent my backline. I knew that **Tokatag Conscript** could be eliminated at any time; I placed **Drybone Hobgoblin** in the fifth position due to four health and 2 armor. Though, I knew that even though I placed **Ujurak Elder** in the fifth position, it would not be attacked because of the camouflage ability. I placed it in the second position because I knew the attacking force might not be strong in the first position.

**Drybone Hobgoblin**

_Level_: 3 ⭐⭐⭐

_Ability_: Reach immunity

_Speed_: 4 ⚡⚡⚡⚡

_Health_: 4 ❤️❤️❤️❤️

\*Armor: 2 🪖🪖

_Attack_: Melee

_Mana_: 4

I did not select this monster due to the melee attack, I brought it to this monster because of her health. By the time **Tokatag Conscript** is destroyed, it would take long time to eliminate **Drybone Hobgoblin**.

_Splinter_: Neutral

_Level_: 3 ⭐⭐⭐

_Ability_: Thorns and ranged

_Speed_: 3 ⚡⚡⚡

_Health_: 4 ❤️❤️❤️❤️

\*Armor: 2 🪖🪖

_Attack_: Ranged

_Mana_: 6

The rule of this battle made me understand that **Tokatag Conscript** could be two way dangerous- thorns and attack. When a melee monster attacked **Tokatag Conscript** The thorns ability damages the units of the monster, and when it attacked, it damaged the unit of the monster it attacked. It was a tactical method to place **Tokatag Conscript** as the last position in the battle. In round 1, the thorns ability of **Tokatag Conscript** eliminated **Colossus Rider** Damaged the health of **Tidal Tsunamist**. That was the reason it was quick to win the battle.

**Lesson learned from the battle**

Utilize your monsters in the most effective positions: This is a big lesson I learned from the battle; I need to learn the most effective position I can utilize my monsters. I understood that **Tokatag Conscript** would be effective in the last position and I used it; therefore, it is very good to know the best monsters in the best positions.

Be ready For battles: Don't underestimate any battle because you don't know the player you are about to pair with. Make sure you get ready as if it is the final game. There was a certain rule I'm very sure to win anytime, this is because I always win the rule even though I'm paired with big players. I was paired with a player whose summoner and cards were not up to mine; he won the battle without losing a monster.
