The earliest Hellenic evidence of a calendar character is the astral myth of the marriage of Atlantus and Pleione and the birth of 7 Pleiades, including Maia, the godmother of Hermes (Apollod. III, 10, 1) . Atlantean "enduring" is the personification of the month. Pleiona 'fulfilled' is a personification of the full circle of time (monthly, annual). Pleiades "daughters of Pleione" - personification of the constellation of the same name. It is an allegorical reference to the traditional new year, namely when a month is born or fulfilled close to the constellation Pleiades, then the year is fulfilled (Pleione) (Hyg. Poet. Astr. XXI, 2-4) . This most ancient state of the Hellenic calendar looks identical to the Indo-Iranian lunar calendar.
The morning rising of the Pleiades coincided with the vernal equinox around 1637 B.C. But the precession makes this comparison unnecessary, as millennia before that and millennia after, this connection of the two events is irrelevant.
A vestige of the primary i.e. lunar calendar is the economic calendar in Hesiod's poem "Labor and Days" (Hes. Op.), a poet who worked between - 800-700 according to the scholastics. The Heliacal rising of the Pleiades was already about 12 May. Hesiod wrote thus: "When the Pleiades rise, begin the harvest"; "When Sirius is overhead, cut down trees"; "When the Pleiades are about to set, begin ploughing" (sunrise - early November); "When Orion and Sirius come out to the middle of the sky, gather grapes"; "In 50 days after the solstice one may take goods by sea for sale"; "Arcturus appears in the evening - prune vines" (end of February); "With the setting of Orion and Pleiades the year is completed". These agricultural instructions later became irrelevant due to the same precession.

Это древнейшее состояние эллинского календаря выглядит тождественным индоиранскому лунному календарю.
Утренний восход Плеяд совпадал с весенним равноденствием около 1637 г. до н. э. Но прецессия делает это сопоставление необязательным, так как тысячелетия до того и тысячелетия после эта увязка двух событий неактуальна.
