We are not static, things are changing, technological advancement is taking over almost everything. Lot of things are to be considered when talking about at what age one need to be independent.

It is a New Month, I do pray that this month brings lots of blessings with her. As it was just few minutes before 12 midnight it began to rain and stopped few minutes past, I just prayed that we will not experience dryness in this month.

Due to what we eat, heredity factors or even environmental factors the way of development is just affected. A times you see a child of 12 if not told one will just be forced to regard him or her as a matured person. For those of us who are just smallish in structure it makes matters worst. One of the days when I went to the market to buy some grains. I got gisting with my vendor a long the line I told her to be fast because I need to go pick my kids from the school. She looked at me with shocked and said, of one look at me the person will not even admit that I am married or even have a chil not to talk of children. I just smiled.

Because of the economic challenges, most parents are just false to send their children out with goods to huck in the market, some of these children get abused while some are exposed to a lot of bad things. Some other parents send the children to go and serve others in another land. A times, this works well and other times it doesn't work well. Some mistress have turned the girls sent to them as slaved, their children don't do anything but the slave girls or boys are meant to do all the house chores and most time on empty stomach.

 One of the days I was watching a documentary and the ladies there mention a woman that damaged the eye of the girl staying with her, some go as far as using pressing iron or even hot water on the slaves. This is so terrible and in human.

When we were much younger after our father died, and some people came asking my mother to allow them take us. We totally refused and told her it is better we eat palm cannel with her than going to stay with someone. When I travel to visit my uncle was after my secondary school and it was out of my own wish, going there I was almost abused both with words and all that, in my house my mother don't abuse us which made me look for my way back home.

In my country one is termed an adult from the age of 18, at that age you are allowed to own a driving license and you have the freedom to do some other things. According to this age standard, anyone that is less than 18 is not supposed to be in the higher institution but that is just in papers and not in practice. When you visit the university, you will notice a lot of underaged students there and that makes things more difficult. Some of them don't know the difference between their left and their right. They are easily deceived because their mind is still tender.

Left to me, I will say this age should be maintained both in theory and in practice, though some children are exposed at a very early age which makes them know more even more than an adult.

Age have little to do with maturity. Some younger ones thinks even more than a grown adult. Some are just blessed intellectually that as little as they seem to be they are so coordinated more than their seniors.
