<p>Lahore is known as the <em><strong>Heart of Pakistan </strong></em>as it was the city that passed the Pakistan Resolution (<em>then Lahore Resolution) </em>on March 1940 that laid the foundation for attaining a separate and independent homeland for Muslims of the subcontinent under the British regime in India.</p>
