Backlog Pile of Shame - PS4 games
It is no secret that I have a lot of video games in my house. Not only that, I have a large variety of consoles. There's a Xbox One S, PS3, PS4, Nintendo Switch, and of course, a gaming PC. There's also a PSP, and a 2DS. There's literally hundreds of games in my house.

If I include my digital collection, it's probably close to a thousand games. I have not played many of them, but I have played a lot of them. This series of posts will examine the games I've got in my house which I haven't touched - at all.

This post will focus on the PS4, and the collection of predominately VR games that I've not sat down with and played beyond a cursory glance.

Again, from left to right, top to bottom.

Rick and Morty: Virtual Rickality

This is a game that I've played a little. From what I've played so far, it is an immersive romp into completing tasks for Rick, as Morty, and its infused with the same level of quality humour as the animated tv show of the same name.

This one is probably top of the pile for "want to play" on the PS4VR.

Resident Evil VII

Sometimes, you just want to be scared, don't you? Hence - REVII. The only Resident Evil game I solidly engaged with was Code Veronica on the PS2, but I know that Capcom are pretty good at putting out competent survivor horror games - of which REVII is apparently very good - and reportedly, even better in VR.

Hence, why I want to get through this title at some point.

Star Trek: Bridge Crew

Haven't you wanted to be at the helm of a starship, dealing with conflict, moralistic issues, and drama?

Well... I have. Not just from watching Star Trek, but from a long love of all things Science Fiction. It's important to support games like this that try to do something completely different and break the mould, hence why I've picked it up. In fact, these games probably sit on the table in the order that I want to play them...

Until Dawn: Rush of Blood

This is quite literally an on-rails shooter game, with the Until Dawn Branding on it. It feels like it would work really well as an oldschool light gun game.

I've played it a bit, but have gotten no where near immersed or hooked enough to get through the title.

Skyrim VR

I used to be an adventurer like you, until I took a move controller in the knee. Skyrim feels like it will work amazingly well with VR.

The only problem, like all Skyrim playthroughs is finding enough time to play it in a faithful manner. Having played the game a bunch on PC - I'm not sure how I will do without mods - but this is something I'm looking forward to being wholly immersed in.

The Inpatient

From the makers of Until Dawn ... another survivor horror game. I don't know a great deal about it beyond that... I just really liked Until Dawn and thought it appropriate to supoort hte developers further. So I did.

The Last Guardian

Can a game be an investment? I don't know. When the creators of Shadow of the Collosus said the were coming out with a new game, I thought it was best to buy the game on release, lest it be worth something in later times. I haven't played it at all.

The Town of Light

This was a game that I hadn't heard of at all, until I saw it in the R18+ section of my local game store. Yes, in Australia, all R18+ games are collected in a section together, (away from the children) - to protect them from the reprehensible violence and mature themes of video games. ...

At least we have a R18+ rating now, in lieu of these more mature "high impact" games being refused classification.

It seemed absurd that for the longest time there was not a R18+ rating for games, but it was just fine for movies. Anyway, that's a story for another time.

No Man's Sky

I've played this game to death on PC. I haven't touched it on PS4. I got it on PS4 because it is compatible with the PlayStation VR - and unlike a whole lot of people, I actually, very much, really enjoyed No Man's Sky, even in its original release state.

It was a great sandbox - and having not been drawn into the marketing hype, I got a game that lavished me with exactly what I used to do with Freelancer. Go places, take stuff, take it elsewhere, and sell it for a profit.

I want to be a merchant-miner in VR, in space. No Man's Sky lets me do that.

Zone off the Enders

Remember my last post about games in my backlog? Remember how I purchased the original Zone of the Enders for a PS2 demo version of Metal Gear Solid 2?

Well, Zone of the Enders is still around, and is now available with some VR bits and pieces. Therefore... to fuel that addiction of ... owning lots of games, I had to purchase the Zone of the Enders game. It was cheap too, which was a significant contributor to my purchasing of this title.

Control

Remedy Studios. They did well with Max Payne. They did better with Max Payne 2. Alan Wake was a gorgeous tale. Let's not talk about Max Pane 3.

Control is their latest, and as a long term fan of their stuff, I wanted it. I played this for a bit, but some framerate issues put me off the game for a while. It's been fixed on the PS4 now - its just a matter of getting some control of my very own time management in order to sit down and play the damn thing.

Man of Medan

Another game made by the creators of Until Dawn. THis is a title that is pretty obscure, but again, was really, really cheap for at launch, and seemed like the sort o thing that would very quickly go out of stock everywhere due to some sort of cult status, therefore, I bought it.

And that's the end of my PS4 pile of shame. A pretty big one, at that, and one that will involve significant use of the VR headset.

Come back again tomorrow to witness the largest pile of shame yet, my Nintendo Switch collection.

It is truly horrific.
