I love the stars. I enjoy walking underneath a blanket of them, I love going to remote, dark places at night just to look at them. Recently, being fortunate enough to spend several days on an island in the middle of the pacific, with absolutely zero light pollution (or close to it) - I decided to make a mockery of the brilliant astro-photography you see on the Internet. 

I went into this unpracticed, unrehearsed, and fairly unprepared, in that the only things I took with me where a camera, a tripod, and a wide angle 10-20mm lens. Most of the exposures below were taken with a 30 second shutter speed, and high ISO. They're mostly terrible, but today, I'm being a bad photographer by showing you stuff "straight from the camera", and untouched by any editing software. 

That's the difference between a good photographer, and a bad photographer. You never see the bad shots taken by a good photographer, much the same as you never tend to see a super-model wearing a sack designed to transport onions.
