[](http://www.learnliberty.org/blog/hes-not-my-president-because-none-of-them-are/) This article hits the nail on the head. I continue to be somewhat baffled by progressives who in so many other instances insist on pointing to the importance of structural factors rather than personal ones, but who then are appalled by Trump's use of executive power after cheering on Obama's. Yes, Trump's a bad guy, but he only has all of these powers because people, both left and right, have allowed the presidency to accumulate those powers in recent decades. It's a STRUCTURAL problem folks - changing elected leaders does not solve it. > *"Of course, over the last couple decades, the power of the presidency has been gradually increasing. The more power to be boss-like or king-like the president exercises, the more people will be reinforced in their idea that this is proper. To its discredit, the legislature has unfortunately been complicit in acquiescing to this expansion of executive power.* > *A similar confusion arises when people say he’s “our” commander-in-chief. For any civilian, this is false. He is the commander-in-chief of the armed forces. He doesn’t have the Constitutional authority to ‘command’ the rest of us to do anything. Precision about language matters."*
