This seems to be the question on everyone's mind, about the world, at large - *But, why?* I just finished listening to a podcast interview with one of the spokespeople for the Freedom Convoy (I've been putting it off a bit, so I guess that's why I came a little late to the party), and it struck me that I honestly can't see how what's happening in Canada is beneficial. Not to us, the people, because that's obvious, but to the government. To Trudeau. The images that have been circulating over the past few days, of the brutality of the police, of the Mounties trampling protesters... well, those prove precisely what we have been saying all along - that this is a tyranny. It's the sort of scene that seems ripped from a dystopian film. But why would the tyrant want to confirm that? That's what I can't get. See, there were some people saying that the restrictive measures and the lockdowns were tyrannical a year ago (and they were, in my opinion), but those people were treated as fringe and a bit cuckoo. It was an image the large majority of people could willingly accept. That there were some more extreme folks who considered these *necessary* restrictions tyrannical. They just didn't get *za science*. Okay, fine. Few people can say that now. When you see police hitting, trampling, and abusing *peaceful* protesters, when the gory, bloody images get thrown in your face - it becomes harder to support or believe in the narrative. It just seems so stupid to me. I mean, few despots in the history of the world willingly embraced that title, largely because it's more convenient to paint yourself as the savior of the people, instead. Look at Communist China, for instance. But to willingly make yourself out to be the bad guy, Trudeau? *Why?* I'm sure some of the more brainwashed people out there will continue to side with the nanny-state, and claim the protesters deserved what they got. If they'd only agreed to vaccinate! (which isn't even what the protest was about, but still) But what we fail to remember in these difficult times is that most people are mild and good-natured, by default. Most people don't look on with glee as some poor elderly woman is trampled by a fucking horse. They try to help her, or at the very least, are horrified. Then, of course, it might be that horror that makes them turn a blind eye to all this horror. Because if you can be trampled by horses in one of the most "democratic" countries of our Western world... well, what hope is there? ## War, what is it good for? And then, there will be those who haven't even been paying attention to the situation in Ottawa because the press they follow is telling them THERE WILL BE WAR, instead. Spinning them around in their seats to look at the big bad tyrant Vladimir Putin. And I'm not saying he's not, but when one of our main righteous allies is trampling people with horses and bashing protesters' heads in, you start to wonder. Or at least, you should. Personally, I'm not all that worried about this alleged war. Largely because I think there have been suspicious amounts of posturing, yet few actions. Secondly, because we already *are* at war. We've been at war for two years. Except the media haven't been telling people about it, and as a result, no one's been worried. And isn't that frightening? That you needed a phony media outlet to tell you war is scary, and bad? Trouble with *that* war is that we're used to being on the "right" side. We've always been the "good guys", while Russia has always been "the bad guy", so of course this new threat of war is working smoothly. But maybe realizing that you supported and trusted in a government that stripped away people's freedoms, severely limited their lives, and broke down their businesses, isn't such a fun realization, after all... But we're getting beside the point. ## Why do *you* think Trudeau did it? *Note: Looking for pics for this post, I came across this interesting little detail. Here are the results of my Google search for "horse ottawa protest":* *and here are my results with Brave:* *Notice how in the first one, you only see a picture of people on the ground in the third row, while on Brave, the image I'm looking for is the very first one. As it should be. What else would I mean by "horse ottawa protest"? Strange.*
