In a recent announcement, the giant company "Apple" Chief Executive Officer Timothy Donald Cook said that Apple greatest contribution will be about human health and it's about to occur. Apple filed a patent recently on [Chemically Robust Miniature Gas Sensors](http://appft1.uspto.gov/netacgi/nph-Parser?Sect1=PTO1&Sect2=HITOFF&d=PG01&p=1&u=/netahtml/PTO/srchnum.html&r=1&f=G&l=50&s1=20190025271.PGNR) which discusses a small sensor that would fit in both Apple Watch and iPhone to warn users for dangerous or harmful gases.

The small hardware device (sensor) will detect the dangerous substances or gases in air tabulated below:

| Gas | Name |
|:----------:|:----------:|
| CO | Carbon Monoxide |
| NO | Nitrogen Monoxide |
| NO2 | Nitrogen Dioxide |
| SO2 | Sulphur Dioxide |
| O3 | Ozone |
| VOCs | Volatile organic compounds |
| CH4 | Methane |

Report by CDC (Centers for Disease Control and Prevention) made known that one of the most dangerous gases is CO (Carbon Monoxide) considering the fact that it's odorless, colorless and difficult to detect the gas. CO injures 20,000 and kills up to 400 Americans every year.

Apple used to be prompted to innovate the health care area of interest into their devices after the prior CEO Steve Jobs passed away in 2011 as a result of pancreatic cancer. Additionally, don't forget that Apple watch was inspired by Steve Job's experience in 2015 and the ECG feature in Apple Watch series 4 has saved a couple of lives.

It’s no doubt by now that Apple is making a colossal wave on health niche. However, this info continues to be a patent for now. But, we can expect future Apple Watch versions and iPhones to feature it.
