According to specialized media, that will be the name of the digital currency that could come into force in England by the end of this year.

It will be a central bank digital currency (CBDC) like several others that are in the plans of important countries such as the United States, Japan, and other members of the EU, there are even some in their early stages of operation such as China although it is never known for sure what this nation does. There is also a CBCD in operation in the Caribbean, which by the way was stopped for some time due to technical problems.

A CBDC is a digital currency in fact and its operation and security are based on blockchain, although, unlike traditional cryptocurrencies, its issuance and use will be fully controlled by the central bank of the issuing country, ensuring its interchangeability with fiduciary currency in the proportion of 1 to 1.

Among the advantages that central banks say these hybrid cryptocurrencies will have will be lower issuance and maintenance costs, a faster and safer way to carry out transactions (also to track them if necessary), and lower rates that would eventually ensure greater usability in the automation of payment systems.

Among the differences with the cryptocurrencies that arose from the launch of bitcoin are several, the main one I have already mentioned, is the centralization of its issuance and regulation, as well as computer and technical support and control.

The origin of cryptocurrencies as such has been decentralization and the absence of regulations, so these CBDC currencies have little to do with it.

Although the name of britcoin has not yet been confirmed by the monetary authorities of the United Kingdom, it does sound strong and could even create some confusion with the true queen of cryptocurrencies among those who know little about all this and who is generally a huge majority.

We will have to wait until June to find out if the digital "britcoin" pound sterling will come out in the coming months or if the paper currency now with the face of the recently anointed king will continue to be used mostly for now.

#### Britcoin

Según medios especializados ese será el nombre de la moneda digital que podría entrar en vigencia en Inglaterra para fines de este año.

Será una divisa digital de banco central (CBDC) como varias otras que están en los planes de importantes países como es el caso de Estados Unidos, Japón y otros integrantes de la UE, inclusive ya hay alguna en sus primeras etapas de funcionamiento como la de China aunque nunca se sabe con certeza que hace esta nación. También en el Caribe hay en funcionamiento una CBDC que por cierto estuvo parada durante algún tiempo por problemas técnicos.

Una CBDC es una moneda digital de hecho y su funcionamiento y seguridad se basa en blockchain aunque a diferencia de las criptomonedas tradicionales su emisión y uso estará totalmente controlada por el banco central del país emisor asegurando su intercambiabilidad con la moneda fiduciaria en la proporción de 1 a 1.

Dentro de las ventajas que los bancos centrales aseguran tendrán estas criptomonedas híbridas será la de un menor costo de emisión y mantenimiento, una más rápida y segura forma de realizar transacciones (también de rastrearlas llegado el caso) y un abaratamiento de tarifas que aseguraría eventualmente una mayor usabilidad en la automatización de los sistemas de pago.

Dentro de las diferencias con las criptomonedas surgidas a partir del lanzamiento del bitcoin son varias, la principal ya la he mencionado, la centralización de su emisión y regulación, también el soporte y control informático y técnico. 

El origen de las criptomonedas como tales ha sido la descentralización y la ausencia de regulaciones por lo que estas monedas CBDC poco tienen que ver.

Aunque el nombre de britcoin aun no está confirmado por las autoridades monetarias del Reino Unido si suena fuerte y hasta podría llegar a crear cierta confusión con la verdadera reina de las criptomonedas entre aquellos que poco saben de todo esto y que son en general una enorme mayoría.

Tendremos que esperar hasta junio para saber si la libra esterlina digital "britcoin" saldrá a la luz en los siguientes meses o si por ahora seguirá utilizándose mayoritariamente la moneda impresa en papel ahora con la cara del recientemente ungido rey.
