During our trip to South Dakota, we stopped by Devils Tower.  It is a huge natural rock tower  right over the border in Wyoming.

This amazing monument is in the middle of nowhere!!

Devils Tower was the first declared United States National Monument. It was established on September 24, 1906, by President Theodore Roosevelt.

It was even in the movie Close Encounters of the Third Kind.
