Hoy continuaron los partidos correspondientes a la ida de los octavos de final de la siempre apasionante UEFA Champions League. Esta vez le tocó a uno que en mi opinión es el segundo máximo candidato detrás del Real Madrid a llevarse esta competición, como lo es el Manchester City de Pep Guardiola y compañía. A los ciudadanos les tocó la tarea de visitar al Leipzig, equipo que supo complicarle la vida a los mismos merengues al ganarles en este escenario por marcador de 3-2 desplegando un fútbol más que interesante y superando en ambos costados de la cancha a los de Carletto Ancelotti. Sin más rodeos, vayamos directo a lo que fue éste empate a un gol entre ambas escuadras.

Los 'citizens', llegaron a esta cita después de empatar ante el Nottingham Forest de visitante por Premier League, desaprovechando la oportunidad de mantenerse a tiro del Arsenal y permitiendo que los 'Gunners' tomaran una ventaja de 2 puntos con un partido menos para seguir en lo más alto de la tabla de posiciones. El City desde el inicio, como naturalmente lo hacen, se hizo cargo del partido. Para el complemento me imaginaba un aplastante Manchester City sentenciando la serie para librar un poco el calendario y concentrarse momentáneamente en el torneo local. Pero no fue así. El City salió a jugar con el mismo ritmo lento que mostró en el inicio del partido y que le funcionó ya que los locales estaban muy pasivos y hasta se les veía tranquilos con el desarrollo del encuentro. Marco Rose mandó a la cancha a Benjamin Henrichs en sustitución de Klostermann por el lateral derecho, para que jugara como un extremo plantado en campo rival y que Szoboszlai se corriera mucho más al centro para jugar a espaldas de los medios del City. El Leipzig comenzó a controlar el balón y hacer lo que nos tiene acostumbrados y que muestran cada fin de semana que es mantener la posesión de balón y usar un ataque mucho más progresivo que reactivo. Lo ví demasiado tranquilo y con la certeza de que definen esta serie en su casa ante su gente, yo desde luego creo que será de esta manera y no habrá ninguna sorpresa en el partido de vuelta. También esperaba hoy una muestra de carácter definitiva y un golpe en la mesa para decirle a toda Europa, que van a pelear la competición más prestigiosa a nivel de clubes hasta el final, eso no lo ví.
