#### I am consistently having the challenge to strike the balance. On one hand, letting the children use gadgets is a moment of silence in the house for me to rest my brain as well as process thoughts in my life. On the other hand, I feel uneasy to let their little eyes and brains being strained from looking at screen for too long. Challenging. It was a challenge for me to manage, back then and till now. *Recently, my eldest got really interested in a mobile game called Blockman Go, and in it, there are other games as well like Bed Wars and Egg wars, etc. And he is interested to build his YouTube channel too. Gradually, I notice one to two hours screentime no longer sufficient. It gets longer and longer hours* # I decided to step in... Having discussion with my eldest to find alternatives. He told me he felt he had so many things to want to do. And he wants to be adult as soon as possible, and that he hopes he is able to manage his screentime better. I am glad he understood that his little eyes and brains need a break. And that it is okay to do nothing sometimes. *I also secretly wish I could do nothing sometimes, or longer times.* ***He asked whether may I have some time with them like last time, playing other games?*** Maybe, I had been busy... This cause me to realise my pre-teen still veryyyyy miss my involvement, to sit there and chat with them, to play with them. So, I ask them to take out what they wanted to do. So they said: 1) Fitness Boxing (eldest's suggestion) 2) Board games (youngest's suggestion) During lockdown, we played a lot. But somehow as time went by, I got tired and let them indulged in gadgets more than other activities. Let me show you what they meant. It was all photos I took last year. # 1️⃣ FITNESS BOXING We bought this from my brother who sells Nintendo stuff because he is a super Nintendo fan. It is called **Fitness Boxing**. We do not have a Nintendo console, nor a Nintendo switch, so we gotto borrow from him. Easy peasy because he stayed with me. See...they enjoyed it. Mind you, really would sweat alot. And you got your personal trainer too.       At first, I thought it would be easy until you moved on to higher level and more moves involved besides upper cut, what cut, you also needed to squat. And we love love love the song selection too. With the song, and following the arrows which signifies certain action, you really exercise. A good buy. A good buy. # 2️⃣ CONNECT 4 The youngest chose this as he still finds it hard. He admired his brother who could think fast and see the potential 4 circles connect together. I didn't have photos of them playing because many times, when I enjoyed the real life moments, I tend to forget to take photos. Not so social media oriented yet. This was a super cheap buy, and I think the quality is good enough.      I bought Connect 4 last year together with this puzzle, which recently my youngest son played and said we may pass this to the nephew soon. Haha.   # 3️⃣ Logic Thinking This one, I love love love. It really helped the children neuro pathways to think. And it has two-sided design; colours only and fruits design. The boys could play this together. I eveb noticed how they discussed as a team. I shouldn't interfere as it was too easy for me. Lol        --- **I still have a few more board games or hands-on games at the shelf, but we will take out group by group, and shall focus on these three first for these few days whenever I said "gadget-off time". Let's see how it goes. I do think generations nowadays should know how to operate gadgets at their finger tips because this skill is crucial, but I also think it is essential for the kids to sign out of gadgets and be in the natural or doing other stuff hands-on. Besides board games, and art, playing instruments, and going to park, going to the beach and nature, I believe kids can learn gardening and baking too. But I am not good in gardening and baking, so I shall let other parents inspire me. Hehe.** --- # <center>Thank you for reading. Stay bubbly.
