S.P.R is a 1998 American epic war film directed by the legendary Steven Spielberg and was written by Robert Rodat. The movie talks about an American army captain John H Miller (Tom hanks) and his squad as they search for a trooper private James Francis Ryan (Matt Damon) who is the last surviving brother of 4 service men killed in battle.



#### Plot & Review
The movie starts with an elderly veteran visiting the cemetery with his family. He falls to his knees with with emotions at a tombstone, the scene then moves back in time as American soldiers land in beach as part of their invasion they suffered a heavy defeat though. Back In Washington DC the US war department finds out that 3 out of the 4 sons of the Family of Ryan were killed in the battle front. Orders were sent sent to captain miller to gather up his team and find the fourth son of the Ryan family. They faced various challenges in finding the James Ryan and even had an issue of mixed identity which was a kind of funny scene. What they initially planned for wasn't what they got because they lost a lot of soldiers during the search of James Ryan with even some other soldiers threatening to leave, some found it unfair that some other soldiers had to die just to save and bring another soldier back home safely. 
SPR does well in showing the rest of the world the hard and brutal reality of war. The story about a squad sent to bring back a only surviving brother was told with competency, the story did well in moving us through all sorts of different scenarios and landscapes, showing a unforgettable glimpse of the unknown world to most of all and terrifying to those who have had the war experience before.
The sound in this movie elated the movie so high, the visuals were great too. Perfect colors were used for the bombed out cities, perfect for the various faces and the uniforms of the soldiers, machineries and the skies that were smoke filled.

#### Cast & Review
Tom hanks playing the role of captain miller tasked with the job of bring James Ryan back home safely. This could actually be Tom hanks best movie, forget his performance in captain Phillips, Sully and in Forrest Gump ( though they were really great) he should have possibly received an oscar for his role in this movie. Capt john miller a leader who must be strong in front of his men and also hides his feelings and emotions in front of them.
Matt Damon who played the role James Ryan. James was so ever committed to serving his country and loved what he was doing and was so good at it, he showed this through his wonderful performances in the movie. I first knew Matt during the Jason Bourne series but I guess this was his first major movie as e was still quite young then and he did an amazing Job but did he make it back home safely though? You'll have to watch the movie to see.
The movie also featured familiar faces in Barry pepper who played the role of private Jackson, Adam Johnson as private Mellish, Paul Giamatti as sergeant hill, Jeremy Davies as Corporal upham, Giovanni Ribisi as T4 medic wade and Vin diesel as private caparzo. They all played their role very well, vin diesel's role was the most emotional for me.

#### Final Analysis

It's really hard to picture the ruins of war being any worse than that of the movie. I bet the sole purpose of this movie is to pay tribute to the soldiers who made a lot of sacrifices and i think the movie did really well there. Throughout the movie the director's attention to the details was amazing. This is a man's film because it shows horrors of war as few other movies have. Some even rate this movie as the greatest ever war movie ever made.
This movie has my most high recommendations. SPR is one of those movies that makes you notice how percious the life we live in is and how hon our and duty (although they are concepts that are really appreciated in wars) can put any individual in serious jeopardy of losing your precious life to something which you do not have believe in.
