Although I don't advocate her views, I'd like to be able to surf steemit based on topics/tags. Kudos to @dan (@dantheman), @ned and all other developer's team! They've done a good job categorizing the content and making it more customizable based on (post performance, time, etc), BUT have a look:

Correction: dollarvigilante's post has some content regarding steemit but that doesn't make it flawless

Yay! I learnt a new programming language today!

Other two posts that I highlighted don't have anything directly related to steemit, but interestingly the [ANN] post refers to steem users as steemians and provides some steemit links while the [Guide] post only mentions it in topics/tags, see:

and

That's from top-notch authors "new" stream is even worse.

If you go to the channel you'll notice what's happening there. People don't care about content they just exchange votes. (I've upvoted without reading the content properly a couple of times but I never begged for votes)
Somewhat similar to this guy who got flagged by @dantheman

Enough of complaining, here's the list of suggestions/advice that I'd like to give:

Choose the main topic/tag wisely, use what you think best fit's your article.

Avoid using irrelevant tags.(it makes the curators/whales and @dantheman angry)

Try to spend more time searching good content and reading it, rather than promoting your article every few minutes(This one's applicable to me as well)

Understand that steemit is new and everyone has their own interests and likings respect that.

You may think that your post deserves x no. of votes/rewards but others might not share the same views. Best practice would be to continue writing what interests you and for the moment avoid thinking about how much your post is worth, rather ask yourself whether you enjoyed writing it, whether it was beneficial to anyone, if not, how can you do so.

Altogether, these practices could help make steemit a better place.

Note: My intention for this post was to enlighten people what they shouldn't do and in doing so, if I've hurt anyone's feelings I'd like to apologize and request you to understand that my intentions were not wrong.
@dollarvigilante , I know you won't be seeing this but I loved the post which I highlighted here and I understand why you tagged "helloworld".

If you think this post was interesting or helpful please follow me. If you have any suggestions or would like to correct the claims/suggestions I've made/mentioned feel free to do so in the comments.

Thank you :)
