If I've muted you, it's nothing personal.  My goal is to follow everyone who is following me, while eliminating all of the resteems (as well as all of the botshit) from my feed so that I can focus on responding to posts personally written.

Muting is used extensively in the following policy only because there is no other way to keep track of which people have given me a reason to unfollow them.  I periodically go through the list of all who are following me and click "follow" on all who are new to the list.  Muting allows me to distinguish new followers from users who I have previously decided to unfollow.

I have adopted, and urge you to adopt, the following policy:

(1)  NEVER resteem anything.  Forget that resteeming is possible.

(2)  Mute every user who resteems into your feed.

(3)  Mute every bot that takes a BOTSHIT dump into your feed.

(4)  Mute every user who uses post promotion bots (See the daily list in @bycoleman.)

(5)  Never flag any post for any reason other than that it is spam (silences other users by degrading the thread).

(6)  Never use flags to attack any user, other than a user who is attacking and degrading the platform.

(7)  Follow all users who follow you, but mute those who post too frequently.

(8)  Upvote only original and valuable blog posts.  Never upvote comments or replies.  Never upvote your own posts.

(9)  Forget completely about getting money.  Focus on connecting with people to enjoy real, sacred relationships.
