The first [Leo Power Up Day](https://leofinance.io/@leoglossary/leoglossary-lpud) for the year is here and as a habit, I did it on the first hour of the UTC clock which is morning time on my side of the world. There is something about powering up on a particular day like [LPUD](https://leofinance.io/@leoglossary/leoglossary-lpud) because not only are we motivated to stake [LEO](https://leofinance.io/@leoglossary/leoglossary-leo) as a community, it also encourages us to set our targets and plan ahead for the day.

I was initially having trouble viewing my LEO wallet through the UI so I used [LeoDex](https://leofinance.io/@leoglossary/leoglosary-leodex) and staked all the available liquid this account had. It went through smoothly in a matter of seconds. Here's the confirmed [transaction.](https://leofinance.io/@leoglossary/leoglossary-transaction)

Glad to have taken the first of 12 LPUD for the current year getting me closer towards my set goal of becoming a lion in the leoverse and of course, unlocking the LP badge on my HiveBuzz board!

For the new ones, [Leo Power Up Day (LPUD)](https://leofinance.io/@leoglossary/leoglossary-lpud) is done every 15th of the month where we stake LEO and grow our [Leo Power](https://leofinance.io/@leoglossary/leoglossary-leo-power). And while doing so, we get a HiveBuzz badge *(by staking a minimum of 150LEO).* And we also have a chance of winning any of the following [LPUD prizes](https://leofinance.io/@leogrowth/2023-is-on-and-lpud-is-around-the-corner), re:

Winning any of the above delegations will be a great boost to aid us in growing our LEO stacks through [curation rewards.](https://leofinance.io/@leoglossary/leoglossary-curation-reward-hive) This is something we don't wanna miss, right? But then again, that doesn't mean it is the main reason for us to power up. We do it because we intend to be here for the long-term.

These are the [basic requirements](https://leofinance.io/@leogrowth/2023-is-on-and-lpud-is-around-the-corner) by the way to meet in order to be eligible for the 3 main prizes:
- Total Leo Power on the 15th January must be less than 25k.
- Must power up at least 150 LEO on December 15, 2022.
- Should have no Leo power down since October 15, 2022.
- Make a post or a thread on LeoFinance about LPUD and may get a visit from @leo.voter

[Staking](https://leofinance.io/@leoglossary/leoglossary-staking) LEO is like saving for the longer term especially that we are in the [crypto-winter](https://leofinance.io/@leoglossary/leoglossary-crypto-winter) season. We can start small and do it slowly but with consistent effort and discipline, our stacks will eventually grow. And while saving, we benefit from it and earn more [LEO](https://leofinance.io/@leoglossary/leoglossary-leo) through various ways, one of which is [curating contents](https://leofinance.io/@leoglossary/leoglossary-curation-content) which allows us to get a share from the [rewards pool.](https://leofinance.io/@leoglossary/leoglossary-reward-pool)
