Many of them will be understood in the hindsight of wisdom and many will still feel they have not brought enough clarity.

We must be mindful of our patterns as there is much to been seen in what we keep in recreating the same outcomes. Learned and repeated behaviour patterns are often the culprits for sabotaging our opportunities and choices. However, they play a part in the learning of life lessons, but if one doesn’t recognize the pattern, then it becomes difficult to learn the lesson. A bit like Groundhog Day!

It can be a relief to finally recognize these patterns, so we can then make a choice to let go of them, or dig deeper, and learn why we are attached to them.

To notice your own patterns, you have to be self-aware, or be open to the observations of others.

To understand why the patterns are there, you have to deconstruct the sequence of decisions and consequent actions, or get help from someone you trust who can.

To do something about the patterns, you have to make new ones, by specifying what decisions you will make when faced with the triggering circumstances. You will be reprogramming your response patterns.

It's amazing to me how a "pattern" is so obvious once it is pointed out. Sometimes, I shake my head in wonderment, questioning why it took so long to figure it out or that it took someone else to bring it to my attention. But that's just it; we're often so CLOSE to the pattern that it is difficult to see properly. Yet once it is identified, the behavior it is responsible for often becomes much easier to hone/adjust. We have it IN US to make these changes and to recognize the things causing behavior we like/dislike, but UTILIZING that ability takes practice and/or help for many.

I'm currently learning a lot about patterns I've displayed over the years that lead to things in my life that I don't like. I can't change others' behavior, but I CAN change mine to alter those patterns.
