Making a delightful meal of Suya in the comfort of your home.
Whether one is watching a UEFA Champions league match at a bar, returning home from work after a hectic day, going to purchase fuel at a filling station, etc, a popular fast food Nigerians is the Suya. Mostly sold by Hausa vendors, it is a food that has gained wide acceptance among the Nigerian people and if you ask me, qualifies to be called a national dish.

According to [this site](en.wikipedia.org), Suya is a spicy shish kebab (skewered meat) which is a popular food item in West Africa. It is a fast food, which traditionally originated among the Hausa people of northern Nigeria. Suya is made from skewered meat (beef, mutton, chicken and even more recently, bush meat).

I guess as Nigerians, most of us are used to "Aboki, I wan buy Suya. How far, you no go give me tasting?". Suya is one of those delicacies that are rarely made in the average Nigerian home. Instead of visiting the Suya vendor's stall every evening to purchase Suya, you can just as well make it in your own home (That "Aboki" in your neighbourhood does not have a monopoly on making it).

### Requirements for making Suya
- Salt
- Vegetable cooking Oil
- Meat
- Seasoning cubes
- Ground dried pepper
- Suya spice

### Procedure
Wash the meat properly and slice it into thin strips with the aid of a knife. Put an amount of Suya spice into a clean plate, add a moderate amount of seasoning cubes and salt to taste. You will mix all these ingredients together thoroughly and set it aside.

Sprinkle the meat you have washed with the mixed spices. With the aid of a kitchen brush, rub your vegetable cooking oil on the meat, so as o aid the grilling process.

At this point, you can begin the grilling. If you do not have a local or electric griller, you can make use of the grilling compartment of your kitchen oven.

While grilling, you have to turn the meat every ten minutes, so as to ensure it is well roasted. After twenty minutes, you should be add more spices and vegetable oil to the meat. Wait for another twenty minutes and your Suya is ready to serve. You can serve your Suya with tomatoes, cabbage, onions, lettuce, cucumber etc.
