I have now been a substitute teacher for 5 different schools.
What do you think is the most predictable thing that happens to me?
Some kids who are older say this, knowing it isn't *actually* true.
Some kids who are younger, I think believe that this might actually be true.
I sincerely believe there are some 1st graders out there who really think that Steve from Minecraft came to their school.
Without fail, dozens of kids at each school will shout with delight, "Steve!" and "Are you Steve?" when I pass a class in the halls or in the yard.
It is delightful.
A distant second is Santa. Only 2/5 schools have thought that. One kid worried that I'd be offended by the comparison. I wasn't. I am delighted that I remind the kids of characters they like.
But, like, I wasn't expecting the absolute consistency of the observations. Upon consideration, though, OBVIOUSLY. I have a full, gray beard, it has the white streaks in the same place that Jack Black does.
It's notable that the kids at my own kid's school haven't said that. They've seen me around for a while. 
Maybe that doesn't seem notable, but I think it's pretty cool to recognize that when you're used to someone, you see them for them. When someone is new to you, you find a comparison person. Throughout my life, people have said I have this feature of my mom or my dad, but I find it hard to see that myself, because I'm so used to seeing their faces as them. 
When I meet people for the first time, I can often see how they are like someone else, but as I get to know them, my awareness that they share features with others disappears.
I dunno. Maybe this isn't a deep observation, but I think it's cool.
