Atlas, A New Robot Can Now Do Better Backflips Than YOU!

It looks unbelievable: I would never have believed that robot technology is progressing at such a great pace at the moment. Now a new viral video has appeared in the net showing a robot doing backflips!

To the video:

The video is from Boston Dynamics, a robotics company based in Waltham, Massachusetts, which researches mainly running robots. It is considered one of the leading companies in the field of human robotics. Exploring the company's YouTube channel, you'll quickly find other videos that seem to show incredible things.

I remember when I first saw Will Smith's "I Robot" in 2004 and thought that robots would probably never look like this. I was convinced that a robot could never speak or even think, let alone move like a human being. Over the years my view has changed drastically. Not only do we now have the opportunity to create self-developing programs (see A. I. research) but also the body of these robots is becoming more and more functional. I hope that humankind will not push it too far and that it will eventually take the wind out of our sails.

I'd be interested to hear your opinion. What do you think about the current state of research on robotics? Leave me your comments, I look forward to it!
