Fidel Castro has faced 638 attempted assassinations against him but all failed. The former director of the Cuban Itelegen said the attempt to assassinate Fidel Castro was carried out since the administration of President Eisenhower to President Bill Clinton.

Marita Lorentz, one of Castro's lovers who was also recruited in the murder plot, he was ordered to put poison pills into Castro's drink.
"You can not kill me, no one can kill me" said Castro to Lorenz
"And he smiled, and turned off the cigar. I melted, he was so sure of me. He immediately took my hand, and we made love," added Marita Lorenz.
Fidel Castro himself once said: "If the assassination attempt was a game at the Olympics, I would have won a gold medal."

It was not the CIA that finally killed him, but Castro's own health that forced him to give power to Raul Castro in 2008.
