Hello Steem-mates, I'm Jim and the following article is based upon my interest in the foundations of Bitcoin. With less than four weeks of experience in the world of cryptocurrency I am far from being an expert, I currently travelling on a very steep learning curve and It's daunting just how much more I need to learn. But it seem's I have hopelessly fallen under the spell of cryptocurrency, its exciting, tiring and I'm obsessed with it. It was originally all about profit, now its more about intrigue and the challenge. Whilst learning about cryptocurrency I came across the confusion, conjecture and speculation that surrounds the Satoshi myth and I was drawn into knowing more about this Satoshi character. Looking back at my obsession I have spent way too much time investigating Satoshi. Since I did invest a lot of time into this exercise I thought I should write about it and share my thoughts and opinions. I'm at the end of my obsession now and whilst I still have some unanswered questions, I have formed one firm belief. Satoshi Nakamoto was the pseudonym that Craig S Wright created and that Craig was the visionary and founder of Bitcoin. So with that bold and controversial statement out of the way, please explore the following and feel free to ask questions, present your own opinions and critique. ##### Satoshi is dead Craig S Wright recently said, "Satoshi is dead and there is no king of Bitcoin" Craig doesn't want to be the king of Bitcoin, and for 'the many' that is great news! Because for 'the many' Satoshi is not dead and Craig is a fraud, an imposter. Unfortunately, Craig is the Satoshi that gave birth to, and unleashed Bitcoin, that is the inconvenient truth. Craig's refusal to perform on demand and provide public proof, his previous runs with the Australian Tax office and his belligerence has clouded the truth. Craig has deliberately and also unintentionally contributed to this mess. Craig's efforts to create confusion is just an immature game of extracting revenge, because Craig feels he has been victimised. ##### Did Craig invent Bitcoin on his own? Bitcoin is not an original idea. Craig created Bitcoin based upon similar digital currency ideas. I don't believe Craig created Bitcoin on his own, there is one known collaborator and confidant, Dave Kleiman, however he sadly passed away many years ago. So Dave is not around to add clarity to the confusion. I'm unsure just how much Dave assisted Craig, we may never know. But there is another person that assisted Craig and he did so not expecting Bitcoin to be a commercial product. That person I believe is Nick Szabo. ##### The right time, the right person The timing was right for digital currency, the world had just gone through the financial crisis and people were angry. They wanted revenge, to recoup, and to take back control somehow. The Bitcoin concept was ripe for the picking and Craig knew it. But Bitcoin needed the right audience if it was to become accepted, revered and ultimately go viral. And Craig knew just the right audience! This is where Craig the visionary kicks in and the idea steps up a notch. Craig had the mathematical and computer science knowledge and he could code in C++ Craig knew that if Bitcoin was to be successful it needed to have incentives and future proofing, it also needed a level of manipulation and deception. Whilst scripting Bitcoin, Craig's personality was unintentionally being encoded into Bitcoin. However, that was to be the crucial element behind Bitcoins success! I think Craig created Bitcoin for a few reasons, and one of those reasons was for his economic gain. Craig must have known he could get very rich out of Bitcoin. Once unleashed he didn't need to watch over it or administer it in anyway, but he could reap the rewards! Bitcoin's architecture seems to be a conglomerate, there are elements that can be contributed to the works of others, and elements that were completely original. But that does not detract from its genius. Many great ideas have been built on the top of other great ideas. Most successful entrepreneurs don't reinvent the wheel they perfect it and promote it. Craig was able to take the digital currency idea much further than anyone else. Craig had the energy and vision to do so where others just dreamed about it. Make no mistake, Bitcoin was not some geeky experimental software released to some Cypherpunks to explore and play around with. Bitcoin was commercial and market ready. ##### Craig's personality If Craig was humble, polite and level headed 'the many' would be more inclined to accept him as the Bitcoin founder. But Craig is belligerent, attention seeking, short tempered and erratic. Yet Craig is also highly intelligent, (arguably) a genius and very knowledgable in so many related fields. But Craig is not the Satoshi 'the many' wanted and they are not happy! But Satoshi is a myth 'the many' created for themselves! Satoshi was simply a geeky pseudonym Craig signed off as so he could remain anonymous, and he needed to remain anonymous as he has big plans ahead. Craig is a difficult person in so any ways. But Craig is just Craig, and he accepts that, he knows his flaws but is incapable or unwilling to change. Craig is content on just being himself, warts and all he doesn't care what people think him anymore. In a way he is finally being genuine, he has exposed the real self. When on the stage Craig he is often sketchy, aggressive and looses his train of thought easily. He also appears to be short of breath and anxious. Craig is uncomfortable on the stage but also enjoys it, but Craig is a poor public speaker and I wonder if he is aware of that. In the end Craig just want's to be noticed and he demands people listen to him. Yet when Craig is being questioned about his projects or achievements he is comfortable, calm and almost likeable. But in all arena's Craig is outrageously proud and often exaggerates his achievements. From my perspective Craig is basically a good person, but he struggles with a personality that is fundamentally flawed. I'm not defending Craig, but we are all flawed in some way, the difference is Craig's flaws happen to be more obvious and confronting. Yet without Craig's personality Bitcoin may never have been successful. The many have created the Satoshi myth around the calm, thoughtful and ingenious persona that Satoshi projected through his posts but failed to recognised the 'devil in the detail' as the essence of Bitcoin reflects a creator very different to the mythical Satoshi and more like Craig. ##### What is Craig doing now? He is in the background creating and plotting, he wants to integrate Bitcoin into the banking system, whilst that seems like a 180 degree stance because he is now colluding with the enemy, he is just following his original roadmap. Craig is unmasked and unleashed and he has a few scores to settle. On one hand it is exciting to see what devilish concept he comes up with next but on the other hand I'm a bit concerned! You can see what Craig is doing now (in part) at the following link http://nchain.com/en/ ##### What about Dave Kleiman? Dave too was a genius in his own right, he was one of few people that could tolerate Craig. Dave was a good friend and helped Craig with his posts and papers on Bitcoin. Dave kept the secret and worked away in the back office, collaborating and advising. Craig knew the full potential of Bitcoin, Dave went along for the ride hoping and dreaming his friend was right. I have a feeling that near the end Dave was befriended by Craig, there seems to be some evidence to suggest that, but we may never really know. ##### The Satoshi myth What happens to the Satoshi myth now that Craig has unmasked himself? I think its high time the Satoshi myth is put to bed.. Bitcoin is just code. Satoshi a pseudonym. Craig Steven Wright is the infamous founder of Bitcoin Thanks for reading. Cheers Jim!
