Queridos amigos de @Holos&Lotus.
Vengo a conversar con ustedes sobre la necesidad de interacción de los niños con los libros. La lectura es una vía infalible para el crecimiento personal y cada día  en Cuba es más difícil poner un libro en las manos de un niño. 

Varios aspectos determinan esta realidad: por un lado las editoriales no cuentan con la cantidad y variedad de libros infantiles; además es evidente la falta de atractivo en las impresiones; a todo esto se suma una arrasadora tecnología que pone en manos de los niños dispositivos digitales para su entretenimiento.  

Crecí sin contactos con los libros, mis recuerdos se ciñen a los libros de cuento con ilustraciones volumétricas y a las cuquitas. De esa etapa no recuerdo ninguna historia por lo que es probable que nadie me leía su contenido y solo atrapé lo que las imágenes me ofrecieron.

Es cierto que mi madre y mi padre eran analfabetos, solo aprendieron a escribir su nombre, aunque en muchos documentos pude ver la huella de su dedo pulgar. Ver los precarios trazos de sus  firmas en mi inscripción de nacimiento, y que pasaran por alto que aquel nombre no era el que me pusieron al nacer, me hacen entender que para ellos los libros eran simples juguete. 

Quizás ellos pudieron aprender a leer con nuestros libros y despertar esa curiosidad en nosotros, pero no pasó,  nos hicimos adultos con una cultura empírica que aún me domina. 

Los libros son fuentes de vida, son puertas a un universo de aprendizaje y el acceso a ellos es necesario para la comprensión de los procesos. El contacto con los libros desde temprana edad, ayuda a crear sueños y nos pone en las puertas de las oportunidades.

Cuando un niño tiene acceso a los libros acorde a su edad, crean un mundo mágico y a la vez real. Van acomodando su aprendizaje con palabras, simbologías y significados que le serán útiles en la adultez. 

Les cuento que yo entré a la universidad con vicios en el lenguaje, incapacidad de elaborar un párrafo porque no tenía las palabras que pudieran simbolizar su significado. En una oración aparecían varias palabras con diminutivos: poquito, chiquito, pedacito, besito. La pobreza del lenguaje es típica de las personas que no realizan lecturas.

Rachel, niña nacida en un ambiente de libros, lecturas y encuentros literarios, sostiene conversaciones con absoluta madurez. Su crecimiento, al igual que el de sus hermanos, tiene lugar en un mundo de realidades impuestas por las carencias absolutas. Una cruda crisis perdurable por más de cinco años ha distanciado a cualquier cubano de todo lo básico, y de todo lo mágico y necesario como lo es un libro.

Precios extremadamente altos no le permiten a las familias adquirir libros para sus hijos porque ello equivale la alimentación de la familia. 
Ante esta precaria realidad, familias como la de Rachel consideran prioridad un libro porque alimentar el espíritu es tan importante como alimentar el cuerpo. 

Así disfruté de una Rachel que a su corta edad presentó un libro de poesía.

>Sabías la lectura desarrolla la imaginación aprendemos sobre el mundo que nos rodea mejoramos nuestro vocabulario la lectura y concentración beneficiándonos académicamente el libro sobre el que quiero hablarte trata del mar y nos devela secretos que debemos de cuidar como los animales inmóviles.

>El autor de este libro ***El Mar y yo***, tiene por nombre Alfonso Silva, nació en La Habana, en 1945. Fue autor y coautor de hermosos libros como El Acuario marino, El Aliento, entre otros. Los animales inmóviles son corales esponjas y plantas navegantes como las microalgas.

>Los científicos nos dicen que el mar nació hace unos 4200 millones de años también se le llama océano y en él viven peces, esbeltos tiburones, delfines alegres y hasta una familia de ballenas jorobadas. Todos los habitantes del mar son amigos, por ejemplo los corales tienen algas microscópicas dentro de cada pólipo...

Es maravilloso el universo que nos abre la lectura, ¿verdad?.

***Reading, a surefire path to personal growth***📚

Dear friends of @Holos&Lotus, I'm here to talk with you about the need for children to interact with books. Reading is a sure way to personal growth, and every day in Cuba it's becoming more difficult to put a book in a child's hands. 

Several factors determine this reality: on the one hand, publishers lack the quantity and variety of children's books; the lack of attractiveness in print is another factor; and all of this is challenged by an overwhelming technology that puts digital devices in the hands of children for entertainment.


I grew up without any contact with books. My memories are limited to storybooks with volumetric illustrations and cute little books. I don't remember any stories from that time, so it's likely no one read their content to me, and I only grasped what the images offered.

It's true that my mother and father were illiterate; they only learned to write their names, although I could see their thumbprints on many documents. Seeing the precarious traces of their signatures on my birth certificate, and their overlooking the fact that that wasn't the name I was baptized with, makes me understand that for them, books were just another toy. 

Perhaps they could have learned to read with our books and awakened that curiosity in us, but that didn't happen, and we grew up with an empirical culture that still dominates me. 

Books are sources of life; they are gateways to a universe of learning, and access to them is necessary for understanding and understanding social processes. Exposure to books from an early age helps create dreams and opens the door to opportunities.

When a child has access to books appropriate for their age, they create a magical yet real world. They align their learning with words, symbols, and meanings that will be useful in adulthood.

 I'll tell you that I entered university with a language deficit, an inability to compose a paragraph because I didn't have the words to symbolize its meaning. In one sentence, several words with diminutives appeared: little, tiny, little piece, kiss. Poor language is typical of people who don't read.

Rachel, a girl born into an environment of books, readings, and literary encounters, holds conversations with absolute maturity. Her upbringing, like that of her siblings, takes place in a world of realities imposed by absolute deprivation. A harsh crisis that has lasted for more than five years has distanced Cubans from even the most basic needs, from everything magical and necessary like a book.

 Extremely high prices prevent families from purchasing books for their children because it amounts to feeding the family. Faced with this precarious reality, families like Rachel's consider a book a priority because nourishing the spirit is as important as nourishing the body.

This is how I enjoyed Rachel, who at her young age presented a book of poetry.

>The author of this book, ***The Sea and I***, is named Alfonso Silva. He was born in Havana in 1945. He was the author and co-author of beautiful books such as The Marine Aquarium and The Breath, among others. 
>The immobile animals are corals, sponges, and navigating plants like microalgae. Scientists tell us that the sea was born about 4.2 billion years ago. It's also called the ocean, and it's home to fish, slender sharks, playful dolphins, and even a family of humpback whales. All the sea's inhabitants are friends; for example, corals have microscopic algae inside each polyp...


The universe that reading opens up for us is wonderful, isn't it?
