## Hard Fork Mayhem!

Last weekend was Aggroed's witness forum which mainly discussed the upcoming Hard Fork.

Some say the Hard Fork will be the best thing since sliced bread!
Others say it will be the complete end of the world as we know it!

My thoughts?

I have concerns that this HF will negatively impact the smallest account holders here.

I think 50/50 is great in theory, but the distribution on Steem is already so fucked.
Those holding a large amount of Steem Power have the most to gain.

SPS is much needed so I'm excited to see what develops there.
Taking the funding from the inflation pool basically takes about 10% from author rewards.

So, overall there will be around a 35% cut to author rewards.

I curate so many great posts each week from small account holders....some only making 10-50 cents.
This will greatly impact them in a negative way.

The counter-argument to this is that the HF downvote pool will allow people to flag shit posts so that more money will go back to the reward pool for everyone.

Another argument is that content creators can make up for the loss of author rewards through curation, but small accounts don't have enough SP for that to happen.

It really depends on what people do with these numbers.
Will large whales start curating more??
Will the community come together to flag shit posts or overly botted posts??

I suppose we shall see what happens.

I actually like 50/50, just not in conjunction with the skewed distribution on Steem that currently exists.

50/50 works much better in the Palnet community due to better distribution.

## Eli Powell on Msp-Waves!

During the forum, I spent some time in chat bothering Eli Powell from Steemit Inc trying to get her attention lol
I asked her multiple times if she would be willing to hold a weekly Discord discussion.
Not just for updates from her end, but to hear input from the community.
She mentioned that they are understaffed, making it difficult to accomplish their goals.
The Steem community is extremely passionate and we want to help where we can.
These engagement meetings can be a way for her to get help from community members who WANT to help.

Yes, I know she is there twice a month for both Witness panels.
But these Witness panels are just *talking*.
We need to get shit done.
Having a weekly meeting can help to organize our vision with the actual COMMUNITY involved.

She said she would love to do this.

And it is now confirmed that she will be hosting a show on Msp-Waves every Wednesday starting next week, so that's cool.

As a side note, I would like to see more interaction with the audience during witness forums, and I hope it can be that way with Eli's new show.
So many great questions and discussions in chat are always overlooked while the witnesses on the panel just say what they want to say.

## New Steem!

One thing I am excited about though is the New Steem Marketing initiative started by @whatsup.
Yes, we have some issues here in the Steem Ecosystem but sometimes I feel like we all just end up swimming in a soup of our combined negativity.
We need to focus on marketing a positive message and bringing people here.
