<div class="text-justify"> ----- ----- Hello everyone How are you today ? I hope and pray that all of us, especially all members of the Architecture+Design Community, will always be given health and happiness in living this life. This time, I want to participate again in this community, by sharing stories about my experiences and impressions when visiting various places that have interesting architectural designs and also interior concepts that are worthy of our discussion. What story will I share this time? keep watching. Some time ago, I saw one of the Instagram content from a food influencer in my city. From this content, I know that one of the local coffee shops in Medan City, namely Floc Coffee and Eatery, has just opened its second outlet. I also know that there will be a 50% promotional discount for every coffee menu on Friday mornings during February 2023. As someone who loves discount, I took my wife to visit the coffee shop. **Floc Coffee & Eatery** Floc Coffee & Eatery, is one of the most popular local coffee shops in Medan City and currently has two branches in Medan City. I once discussed a branch of Floc Coffee & Eatery which is located on Dewa Ruci Street, Medan Petisah District – Medan City. How was my story and impressions at that time, friends, you can read in my old posts here: This time, I visited the second outlet from Floc Coffee & Eatery, which just opened in February 2023. The second outlet of this coffee shop is located on Guru Sinumba Street in Medan Helvetia District – Medan City. There is a significant difference from the first and second outlets of this coffee shop. I came in the morning around 10 am to this coffee shop. The weather at that time was drizzling and the conditions were quite cold and wet. If Floc Coffee Dewa Ruci is on a narrow street and a densely populated area, the condition of the area at Floc Coffee Guru Sinumba is more about and the car parking area is also easy for us to get. ----- ----- **Outdoor Space from Floc Coffee & Eatery** The coffee shop area is surrounded by a three meter high stone fence. The stone fence walls use the composition and arrangement of stones or with smooth cement walls. We often discuss this style of wall design and find it in various coffee shops with industrial designs. Gray color can give us an elegant, clean and simple impression. I think this industrial concept coffee shop trend will last longer, because visitors like it and also the budget is more affordable for coffee shop business owners. The difference between the first outlet and the second outlet lies in the concept and the building. AT Floc Coffee & Eatery Dewa Ruci, this coffee shop uses two three-story houses that are put together and renovated so that it is proper and suitable to be a coffee shop. At the coffee shop outlets located in Dewa Ruci, the focus is more on the indoor concept with a selection of furniture and minimalist designs. When I observed and noticed, Floc Coffee & Eatery Guru Sinemba focused more on the outdoor area than the indoor area. We can see this from the comparison of seating between the indoor and outdoor areas, which means that this coffee shop focuses on young and communal customers. This coffee shop built a special building for their new coffee shop, not renovating the existing building. From the front, we will see the arrangement of benches and tables used as seats. The industrial outdoor concept of the coffee shop can be seen in the way this coffee shop uses exposed concrete for its buildings. We can see the concrete walls that surround this outdoor area, matching the floor and using matching colors. I also like the floor concept that uses small gravel stones which can give a different feel and reduce the monotonous impression on the floor. To get rid of the monotonous impression of this outdoor area, this coffee shop tries to plant some trees and plants to give a green impression and reduce the sun's heat. These trees are not too big, but in a few years they will be more shady and make visitors comfortable from the hot sun. For outdoor furniture, I think Floc Coffee & Eatery chose furniture that is suitable for both hot and rainy conditions. Tables and chairs used are made of iron which is painted black, and combined with full varnish wood. Apart from that, we can see that there are seats made using cement and concrete combined with the tables. The table design also looks minimalist and is perfect for this outdoor room. Furniture like this is more suitable for outdoor, because it is resistant to changes in weather. Some spots from the outdoor area also use tents to reduce the heat from the sun. Moreover, this outdoor area is the only non-smoking area in this coffee shop. So if there is no shade, I think no one wants to sit here during the day. If you look at the seating arrangements in the outdoor section, I think this area will be suitable for hanging out with friends or the right place to exchange stories with partners and girlfriends. ----- ----- **Indoor Space from Floc Coffee & Eatery** Next, I invite you to see the inside of this coffee shop. The indoor building of this coffee shop has two floors. Currently, Floc Coffee & Eatery only uses the ground floor as part of the coffee shop and the second floor is used for a prayer room and an advertising company office. I asked the barista, that the second floor office was only temporary and the long term plan would be to utilize the entire building to be part of a coffee shop. Floc Coffee & Eatery still consistently uses a minimalist industrial theme in the indoor part of this coffee shop. When we enter, we will again see the use of exposed concrete for the walls of this room. This unfinished concept gives a simple and natural impression to the visitors who come. Industrial design concepts like this can also provide a sense of comfort and not be intimidating for visitors who come. I use the word "intimidation", because I have personal experience when it comes to a restaurant or coffee shop that has a classy and luxurious design and architecture. I felt that it intimidated me, and felt uneasy because I was afraid of the looks of other people in the place. The point is, there are several places that have designs and architecture that are too luxurious and beautiful to make people who come feel inferior. One of the interesting things about this coffee shop is that we will see exposed concrete walls (unfinished wall) combined with the use of transparent glass as walls. This transparent glass is very thick and also clear, we can see the outside of the coffee shop when we sit relaxed in this indoor room. The use of this glass wall also gives us a wider visual observation of visitors who come to this place. For the selection of furniture used, Floc Coffee & Eatery chose tables and chairs made of wood. The height of the benches and tables is also very suitable for visitors who want to work at these two coffee shops. The furniture design uses a minimalist style that fits perfectly with the industrial concept used by this coffee shop. In addition to chairs and tables made of wood. There is also a sofa-shaped seat with a capacity of eight people. This seat is perfect for visitors who come in groups or large groups. I like the indoor part of this coffee shop. This place, very comfortable to work and quiet without any noise. For sure, I could sit all day and write a lot while I'm here. Maybe this is all I can tell you at this time, see you next time. ----- <div class="pull-left"> https://files.peakd.com/file/peakd-hive/isdarmady/2423yvoso3ny3438gz8PfeWZCfmhrLTF7yNkdvngnsT9tmZWptEh3PBwmogZvzHCWhiED.jpeg </div> <div class="text-justify"> <b>About Author</b> Call me Isdarmady, because I have a full name that is very long, namely Isdarmady Syahputra Ritonga.
