Secrets of Organ Playing Contest - week 64 | O Sacred Head, Now Wounded arranged by Paul Manz
I first heard Paul Manz on a friend's phone and immediately was drawn to his reharmonizations of hymns. I remember telling him, i want to play like that! Well, here is my chance. This is far from the perfection of his playing, but its a start.

This chorale is unique in that the melody is cinstructed as a canon using the right hand ti begin with an 8' flute (or string) and echoed by the pedal with a 4' Choral Bass. The oedal is supposed to sound softer and higher than the 8' in the right hand. The left hand is playing a harmony based upon sevenths constructed in the third inversion creating an a minor scale. The tricky part is knowing when the pattern changes direction. Enjoy this beautiful setting of Herzlich Tut Mich Verlangen.
