There are many movies already released since the year started. 2020 has been a dead year for movie industry being at the height of the pandemic. Lockdowns are already eased in some countries, and vaccination rollouts progresses too. Might be the reason of success of several movies.

It is surprising, though, that the highest grossing film of the year is a Chinese film which grossed more than a billion dollars. It was followed by another Chinese film being the second highest grossing film. It shows that Chinese films are experiencing big success at the box office, of course, the amounts are accumulated from China.

The most successful Hollywood movie this year is "F9" (Fast and Furious 9) which exceeded $600 million. If not of the pandemic, the movie might have grossed more than a billion again. It's evident that movie industry is gradually resurrecting based on box office receipts.
